"Is she still upset?" Haerin asked as Kai came back from checking on his sister that wouldn't budge from her position by the window
"Yeah...I mean it's probably a lot for her to handle right now" Kai sighed and Jaehyun scratched the nape of his neck
"At least she has Jihye" he sighed and Kai nodded
"Yeah...I mean all she ever wanted was a little sister growing up and like...after her surgery when our mom said she couldn't have kids...she only wanted a child" Kai said and Jaehyun sighed, watching his girlfriend sniff by the window at a distance from them as golden hour hit from the oncoming sunset. And usually Jaehyun brain worked in a simple manner. You could even argue that he barely had an inner monologue, but his thoughts seemed to get louder by the second as Kai's words sunk in.
"Wait...your mom said she couldn't have kids?" He asked and Kai nodded making Jaehyun sit up
"Like not a doctor...but your mom— did any doctor say it to her?" Jaehyun asked and Kai hummed, shrugging
"I don't know...Kira was kind of closed off ever since our mom told her after surgery...we took her home right after" Kai replied
"Oh my god...that's so—this is so fucking messed up" Haerin scoffed, understanding what Jaehyun was saying
"What?" Kai asked, eyeing the two who seemed to be in shock
"Let me go see if theres a gynaecologist available" Haerin said, standing up to her feet immediately
"What's going on?" Kai asked, sitting up
"You seriously don't understand what I'm trying to say? You don't think it's a little weird how your mom who absolutely hates her tells her that she can't have kids?" Jaehyun sighed and Kai narrowed his eyes
"Dude like...she wouldn't do that...why would she...no. No way. Like me and Kira were IVF babies so why would she do that...that makes no sense. She knows what its like to not be able to have kids so why—"
"Kai calm down, just breathe" Jaehyun said, cutting his rambling short
"Why would she do that? Who would do that?" Kai asked with a shaky breath
"A really sick and twisted parent that sees her child as competition" Jaehyun said, shaking his head as he turned to the girl who stared out the window with arms still crossed, thinking of anything and everything.
"Floor 6, room 4 is free...they said they can send a doctor down in ten minutes" Haerin said and Jaehyun nodded, patting Kai's shoulder as he turned to Haerin with a surprised expression, wondering how his mother could be so cruel to his own sister.
"Hey love" Jaehyun said, wrapping his arms around her waist, looking into the buildings of the western city outside of the window
"Hey" she whispered, turning around to face him. He smiled at the golden hue that fell on her face, she was so beautiful to him.
"Let's go for a walk" Jaehyun said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ears and she smiled, sniffing lightly
"What about Jenny?" She asked, turning to see her brother with the baby in his arms talking to Haerin
"She'll be fine...come on" he smiled, taking her hand lightly and leading her to the elevator, being sure to never let go of her hand for even a second.
"What's going on?" She asked as he brought her towards an empty room in the hospital
"Please don't tell me you want to actually do it in a hospital Jae—"
"That's not...well...now that you said it" he chuckled and she rolled her eyes, but before she could speak, a doctor came into the room as if he was expecting them.
"Did Haerin seriously get a male doctor to piss me off?" He muttered and Kira furrowed her eyebrows
"What's going on?" She asked and he sighed, taking her hands into his
"You'd do anything for me right?" He asked, looking into her eyes with a pleading expression
"Well...yeah but—are you trying to steal my kidneys or something—because I was only joki-"
"Baby, baby...can we just do a small check up? Just to really make sure whether you can or can't have kids?" He asked, cutting her off
"I don't know Jae I...I don't want to be told it to my face again—I don't think I can—"
"Please Kira...just do this for me okay? Please?" He pleaded, and she looked into his hopeful eyes and felt a sense of guilt knowing his hope would soon be crushed like hers once was.
"Okay" she agreed, knowing he would insist further anyway and Jaehyun sighed of relief, turning to the doctor
"I'll do a quick blood test and then a cervical scan, just a regular check up really. We already have your medical file in our records so we can do another scan of your reproductive organs if needs be" he said with a nod and Jaehyun gave Kira's hand a reassuring squeeze
"Okay...I'll wait outside okay?" He asked and she smiled as he planting a kiss onto the top of ger head before leaving the room
"If you could just take off your clothes, lie on the bed and spread your legs for me whenever you're ready" the doctor said quickly
"You know what, maybe I should stay in the room—"
"Jaehyun, Go!" She laughed as he walked out the door, making sure to shoot the young doctor a glare
"Gotta keep them on their toes" he joked with a smile, turning around to let her dress into the hospital gown.
