As Steph, Caitlin, Sam, Mackenzie, Kyra and I get out of the Uber at Camp we are greeted by the rest of the team and staff.
I run to Ellie Carpenter and Hayley Raso and jump into them. Ellie and Hayley took me under their wing when I joined the senior team because of how young I was they could relate to how I felt.
"Ahhh y/h" Ellie says are she kisses my cheek
"How are you?" Hayley asked
"I'm good, I've missed you guys so much" I said
I continued to make my way around the team to greet everyone.
"Hey y/n" Tony said as he opened his arms for a hug
I hugged him and responded "hey, how are you?"
"I'm good, I've been watching for for Arsenal" he said
"Oh gosh have you?" I ask
"How's your head"
"It's fine now, it was a bit touch and go for a while"
"I didn't know who I could've replaced you with"
"Awww Thankyou" I responded
"If you want a spot in the starting 11 against Ireland it's yours but I need you to show me in training what you've been doing for arsenal"
"Omg Thankyou so much Tony, I'll prove it to you I promise"
As newish player who's first cap was a sub in the World Cup hearing that I was being considered for the starting 11 against Ireland was amazing. It would only be my third cap ash first was against Sweden and my second was against Canada.
I ran over to Hayley and Ellie to tell them the news and they were so happy for me. We decided to get catching up inside before we had some free time whilst waiting for our hotel assignments.
"So how's daan?" I asked Ellie
"Yeh she's good, we got a place together in lyon"
"That's so good Ell" Hayley said
"How's Real Madrid, how's Spain?" Ellie asked Hayley
"It's so good, finally competing in champions league and it's actually pushing me so hard"
"Omg I just realised that chances that we will meet in the finals" I said to Hayley and Ellie
Real Madrid is coming up so good and lyons and Arsenal have both won it before.
"Anyway y/n, I heard you got hurt so I watched the replay. Are you ok" Hayley asked me
"Yeah I'm just really lucky I guess" I responded
"And ummm, Katie McCabe?" Hayley asked me
"What about her?"
"That didn't take you long" Ellie said to Hayley
"Come on, she's a grub on the pitch. Remember the World Cup" Hayley said
"Ahahah she's passionate" I said
"Ooooo you're sticking up for her" Ellie said poking me in the arm
"Well she asked me out a few months ago,
Soooo..." I said
"WHAT" Ellie and Hayley responded at the same time
"You've been dating for months and haven't told us!?"
"Yeh sorry you didn't think it was that big of a deal" I said
"Well I hate to say but she's kinda a really famous footballer" Hayley said
"Her and Daan are friends from when she played at Arsenal, we should go on a double date some time" Ellie said
"Oh sorry Hayley, you can come too" she said giggling at Hayley's misfortunate love life.
"But anyways how old is Katie?"
"Ahhh, 28" I whispered under my breath
"Jeez y/n. She's a bit older than you" Ellie said
"You can't talk Ells" I responded
"come on in guys" one of the staff called out
"We all got assigned to our rooms"
Hayley was with Ellie, Steph was with Caitlin, Alanna was with Macca, kyra was with charli, and I was with Sam. Sam walked over and out her arm around me "oh aren't you lucky" she said to me I just laughed. Sam and I haven't spent much time together I guess we were the leftovers but that's fine. I play next to Sam on the pitch so it would be good for our chemistry.
We took our bags up to the room before we went as a team on a walk to grab coffee.
I had just grabbed my coffee when my phone started to vibrate I opened it to see Katie FaceTiming me so I removed myself from the group and walked down to the beach across the street.
"Hey baby girl" she said
"Hi babe"
"Your look beautiful" she said making me blush
"Oh shut up"
"What are you doing?"
" I just grabbed a coffee with the team"
"Did you get your room assignment?" She asked
"Yep, did you?"
"Yeh I'm with Denise O'Sullivan, how about you?"
"Sam" I said quickly knowing she was going to get jealous if I was roomed with any masc on the team.
Her face changed "what about kyra or Steph?" "Nah they got other people, sorry Katie but you aren't acting jealous right now are you?"
"Ahh no" she said abruptly
"Sure sure" I said giggling
"She's dating Kristie Mewis, Katie you know that"
"Yeh whatever" she said
"Katie you are the most perfect girl I could ask for, don't be getting jealous now you have nothing to worry about, unless it was Lucy Bronze of course" I said
Katie gasped
"Kidding kidding" I said laughing
"Shut uppp, your just teasing me now" she said
"So did you only call me to see who are those rooms with?" I asked
"No I'm just missing you"
"Awwww, Kate"
"I miss you too, but guess what Tony said"
"What!?"
"He thinks he might start me against you guys"
"WHAT OMGGG IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU" she said.
Denise came into frame "I knew you could do it" she squealed at me
"awww you're too cute" I replied
"Where are you playing?" Katie asked me
"I'm not telling you anything else" I said kait just responded with a guilty face.
"We're going to beat you again just like in the World Cup" I said as I hung up and re-joint the group.
I don't want Ireland to win but I'll always route for Katie, so if me being competitive to her is gonna make her play her best then I'll keep doing it.
The team met up for dinner and we all just caught up like old times. This team is a real family.
