season five, episode twenty

Everyone knew how Ryan reacted to when he had found out about his sister being the sidechick in Derek and Addison's marriage, but finding out that his best friend was proposing to his sister made him happy to think about how happy his sister was whenever she was with Derek.

He rounded the corner when seeing Mark being held up by Calliope's father, "Ha." He chuckled when seeing Mark's red face, his eyes went towards Calliope's father, "Pleasure to meet you, Mr Torres," He said shaking Calliope's father's hand in his, "I'm Ryan Grey, a friend of your daughter."

"Is he—" Calliope's father turned to face his daughter, "who you are dating now?" Ryan shook his head, "Oh no, sir." He admitted looking at the bald headed man in front of him, "I'm just a friend." He repeated, "It was a pleasure to meet you." He said as his pager spoke seeing Cristina paging him, "I need to get going."

Ryan looked at Callie with a smile, "See you at lunch?" Callie nods her head knowing that Ryan will most likely come and join her and Arizona again, "Bye."

He knew that Derek and Mark still wasn't speaking and to be fair, neither was Mark and Ryan, but the Grey male had to speak to Mark Sloan since they had a patient.

But since he wasn't on Mark's service today, he was on Shepherd's and couldn't help but look at the two still arguing friends, "Sir, can I get you to move your eyebrow?" Derek questioned, as Mark then intervined with, "I can't examine his ear. Would you get out of the way?"

Ryan looked at where Lexie sat seeing her looking back at where he sat, where she motioned to the two best friends as Ryan sighed seeing them arguing.

"Could you just wait?"
"Could you just—"

Ryan looked at his superior, "Dr Shepherd?" Derek looked up away from the patient to his intern as he sighed moving away from the patient letting Dr Sloan examine their patient's ear, "Free fluid in the upper left quadrant. Grey—" Ryan and Lexie looked at Owen, "Female Grey," Lexie nods her head, "schedule a stat CT."

Ryan passed his sister when Derek went out of the room, "This is gonna be a long day." He expressed as Lexie agreed as she also stepped out of the room, going to schedule a stat CT.

Ryan stood behind his superior, "There's no blood in the brain." Derek commented when seeing their patient's CT, "ZMC fracture of the temporal bone, ruptured eardrum. Book us an OR, Grey."

Lexie and Ryan looked at one another, "Uh who?" Lexie questioned her boyfriend when Mark was about to speak, "Lexi—"

"Not so fast, Lexie." Derek stopped Lexie from moving as Ryan sighed, "Mr Gates, the patient has a name, also has an injured facial nerve, which means what?"

Ryan furrowed his eyebrows when Derek asked Lexie the question, "That Mr Gates will also need a nerve repair." Ryan hummed, "Does that also take place before or after Dr Sloan's ossicular reconstruction?"

Lexie looked at Ryan who stepped back to let his sister check to what she then replied with, "Before." Mark shook his head, "Incorrect." Lexie then responded, "Because you'll have to explore the wound for bone fragments, not to mention reversing his conductive hearing loss."

"Which is why I need you to book me that OR. Now, Dr Grey." Mark said to his girlfriend, "No." Derek replied, "If this patient has facial paralysis, it won't matter if he can head out of one ear or not," Ryan agreed with that nodding his head, "See Dr Male Grey agrees with me,"

When Mark looked back at his best friend, Ryan ignored his best friend's eyes and continued to agree with Derek about who needs to operate first.

"Dr Grey?"
"Ryan? Lexie?"
"Dr Grey?"
"Ryan? Lexie?"

Lexie then bursted, "I think you both are amazing doctors." She exhaled deeply, as Ryan took his sister's arm and out of the room to get her calm down knowing that she was getting anxious about her boyfriend and future half brother in law feud.

Ryan knew that this feud between the neurosurgeon and plastics surgeon wasn't going to end as he ended up in a room filled with bridal dresses that was supposed to be Izzie's hospital room, "Iz?"

He questioned when only seeing a bunch of white wedding dresses, "Get out. Get out." Izzie ordered as the Male Grey furrowed his eyebrows, "I'm not the one marrying my sister, Iz."

The blonde headed cancer patient shook her head, "You're the brother which means no peaking," Izzie stated rushing the intern towards the door of her hospital room, "Wait, Izzi—" Dr Stevens closed the hospital room door shut in Ryan's face, "Ok. Great."

Where the intern then again walked into Mr Gates' hospital room seeing the said patient being checked over by Derek, "Are they still fighting?"

Lexie nods her head when she motioned to the two surgeons who were going back and forwards, when Owen then replied with, "You also have some bleeding around your spleen. We'll keep an eye on it."

Mark looked at him, "Also, your eardrum has ruptured." He explained, "You might permanently lose the hearing in your left ear." Mr Gates shook his head, "Unbelievable. Unbelievable!" He repeated.

"That son of a bitch!"

Ryan then looked at their patient, "Mr Gates, it's important that you try and stay calm." Mr Gates shook his head at what Ryan said, "No. Don't you tell me to stay calm." Mr Gates expressed, "That son of a bitch dove in front of my car. He dove!" He then looked at Ryan and Lexie again, "Like he was superman. Had his arms stretched out and everything!"

"I was going to the bank." Mr Gates stated, "I was just—" He said again, "—going to the bank." He said as a tear fell down his face.

Ryan looked over at where Derek stood near to their patient who looked back at his intern who was on his service.

Ryan now had enough. He had enough of his two friends bickering. "Ok." Ryan stepped into the scrub room where he sees Derek and Mark scrubbing in, "Whatever this is has got to stop." He told them both, "Derek, I understand that Mark maybe shouldn't have told you when your patient had just died, and even though I still don't like the thought of you and my sister dating." He said to Mark looking at the plastics surgeon, "I just have to push it aside because you do make Lexie happy. And that's all I want, is for my sisters to be happy—"

"Okay—" Meredith came into the room, "Before you guys go in there and start cutting on this patient," Meredith started to say when Ryan sees Lexie standing behind their sister, "you need to apologise to each other. If not for the patient, then for me."

Meredith then started to say about Lexie and her appearance that the two surgeons have caused by them arguing, "Derek, Ryan has already forgiven Mark—"

"This should be a joyful time. Your best friend's getting married." Lexie told her boyfriend who looked into the OR, "You and Ryan should be standing next to each other as Derek's best men,"

Derek didn't look over at them as he continued to scrub in, "Ryan and the Chief will be my best men."

"What?"
"What?"

Both Ryan and Meredith voiced, "Ryan, Lexie, will you excuse us? Please?" Ryan nods his head knowing that Meredith was gonna talk to her husband about his choice of best men where Ryan sees Mark going into the OR room.

Ryan watched from outside of the OR room as Derek and Mark spoke to one another or it seemed like it as the two kept making eye contact with one another.
