My jaw dropped, and I covered my mouth, a little embarrassed.
Jax just laughed and ran over, scooping me up and spinning me around once before setting me down.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I laughed, hugging him tight as my feet hit the ground again.
"That would've ruined the surprise, obviously!" Jax grinned, grabbing my face and pulling me in for a kiss.
I was happy to oblige, pressing my mouth against his until both of us were gasping for air and laughing.
"I've wanted to do that for so long. FaceTime just doesn't cut it. I missed you so much." Jax mumbled, "Told you I couldn't wait 'til next summer."
"Aw." I gently tapped his nose, "I missed you, too. I'm so glad you're here."
"Not too disappointed about not seeing Sleep Token?" He joked.
"Not at all." I said, "C'mon, let's go watch."
We went backstage, moving past fangirls who kept grabbing at Jax. To play devil's advocate, Jax really did look almost exactly like his dad from behind.
"I'm not Matt Tuck!" Jax finally yelled, making a lot of them back off slightly.
One girl lunged out and grabbed his arm. "I don't care. You're still hot as hell."
"Thanks. I'm also taken." He jerked on my hand and yanked me to his side, wrapping an arm around my waist and holding me close. Just out of spite and pleasure, I smirked and grabbed his face, sharing a kiss with him again.
The girl huffed as Jax quickly kissed me back, and stormed off.
We both laughed and made our way backstage, to where Crown the Empire was just leaving the stage.
I felt my heart start to pound, and Jax looked at me as my grip on his hand tightened.
"Whoa. Everything okay?" He asked as he saw me pale.
"Can we-let's go." I cut myself off, pulling him towards the door again.
"Why? Are you okay?" Jax immediately turned concerned.
"I'm okay, I just-"
"Well, well. If it isn't junior Sykes and Tuck."
I froze.
Andy laughed as I turned to look at him in mild panic, but Jax smiled.
"Hey, Andy, how was the show?" He held up a hand, and Andy high-fived it.
"Awesome, man." He turned his attention on me, "How's it going, Sykes?"
"I-it's good." I said, rubbing at my wrists anxiously. "W-what brings you to England?"
"Performing with these bastards." Andy tipped his eyes to something behind me, and I turned to see Bullet For My Valentine making their way towards the stage.
Micheal, who'd clearly heard him, flipped him off as he walked onstage. "Be glad we let you on at all, Rockhold!"
Andy laughed, "Good luck, man!"
They disappeared to start their show. At least, I thought so, until I felt arms wrap around me from behind, smothering me in a surprise hug.
"Hey, Hazel, how's it goin'?" Matt grinned.
"Matt! It's going awesome, how 'bout you?" I rambled. It felt like forever since I'd talked to him, too.
"Pretty good, pretty good." He nodded, letting me go, "But I gotta go. We gotta catch up later, alright? It's been ages."
"I know. I will. Good luck!" I waved as he jogged onstage, yelling at the crowd moments later.
"Wow. You know him well, then?" Andy turned to me again, reminding me of his existence.
"Oh. Yeah." I nodded, "He's like another uncle to me. He's awesome."
"So how long have you guys been together?" Andy asked as Jax snaked his arm around my waist again.
"Comin' up on six months, is it?" Jax looked at me for confirmation.
I nodded. "And we've been best friends since we were seven."
"Aw, so you guys have the full love story and everything." Andy grinned, "That's adorable."
"Yo! Andy! Get your ass over here!" I recognized Hayden standing near another door, waving him over.
"Alright, alright, I'm coming! Nice to catch up with you guys."
Andy stared at me for a few more seconds than I was comfortable with before jogging off.
As soon as he was gone, Jax reeled on me. "What was that about?"
"What?"
"You looked so uncomfortable as soon as he started talking to you. Is something wrong?"
"I just- c'mon." I led him outside, and we sat down on the first park bench we found, a ways away from the concert venue.
"Alright, what's up?" Jax asked as soon as we were seated.
"Andy just...he kinda creeps me out. I dunno, it's some weird feeling. He also...started texting me a lot. After the tour." I explained, "He DM's me all the time, and I try to tell him politely to fuck off, but he never does. But I can't just straight-up tell Andy Leo Rockhold to fuck off. Who do I think I am?" I buried my head in my hands, "It's probably just me being irrational. But..."
"Hey, hey, it's okay." Jax wiped away some tears I hadn't realized had escaped down my cheeks, and held me close again, "I promise, you can trust Andy. He's a good guy. Y'know how you said my dad was like a family member to you? Well, Andy's like family to me. He would never do anything weird, or creepy, or anything."
I sighed. "I know. I know, I'm just paranoid. Thank you, Jax." I kissed him, and his hand tangled in my hair.
The moon gave us the perfect backdrop as we just sat there, staring at the stars, one of his hands wrapped around me and resting on my shoulder, and the other one holding mine tight.
A form of comfort that could not be matched.
"Look!" Jax pointed, and I saw a shooting star fall from the sky.
"Whoa," I grinned, "There!" Another one zipped past before disappearing.
"That's beautiful." Jax breathed, watching as more kept coming. "Really makes you think."
"'Bout what?" I pressed when he didn't elaborate.
"I dunno. How small we are. Just little, tiny bunches of atoms floating through this huge fucking universe. Yet we still get to live. We get to have fun. We get to love." He looked me dead in the eyes, and my heart crept up to my throat.
He pulled me close enough for our foreheads to touch. "Nobody will ever love you like I love you, Hazel Sykes."
"I love you, too, Jaxon Tuck. And I always will."
"How. Incredibly. Sweet." A new voice slowly deadpanned.
Then something sweet was shoved over my mouth, and everything went black.
