Seo HanByeol couldn't help but roam the hallways of the hospital in total boredom. "Hello! Kiddo" The female bent down to greet a child who was busy playing with a doll. "Hi" the little girl waved at her shyly, passing on a small smile.
"You look new here" Startled at her statement, HanByeol chuckled lowly. "Yeah but what about you?" "I've been here for the past month" HanByeol suddenly felt a wave of sadness hit her when she heard the girl mumble.
"My heart is weak they say" all those words hit the older female like a truck. "But you're so strong. You're fighting your illness so well" Ruffling her hair, HanByeol brought out a candy from her pocket and handed it out to the kid.
"What's your name, pretty girl?" The kid asked, "Umm" the teenager was muddled as to which name should she address herself as. "You don't have one?"
"Can you name me something then?" The child pondered with a finger caressing her chin, deep in thought. "Areum" HanByeol smiled at the name, somewhat bashful at her further words. "My brother said it means BEAUTIFUL"
"Thank you. It's wonderful" Patting down her hair, HanByeol continued her little conversation with the child whose name she had come to know as 'Hana'. "Why are you not in your room, Hana?" A masculine voice rung through HanByeol's ears, her head jerking towards the sound.
Seo HanByeol felt a lot of emotions that were trying to surface her being : despair, hope, anger, curiousity, everything one could name. "Oppa!" Hana leapt in the air and immediately engulfed the male in a tight hug who in return swirled her.
"Now tell me-" his gaze suddenly halted on HanByeol, both of their eyes wide with recognition towards each other. HanByeol couldn't believe that it was her father standing in flesh ahead of her while the male couldn't comprehend the emotions he was going through as he watched his lover.
"This is my new friend" Hana introduced, squirming out of her brother's grip and hugging HanByeol. "Areum!" Her brother looked surprised at the foreign name, "Areum?!" Scrambling to get to her feet, HanByeol was about to head to her own room.
"Wait-" Hana held onto the sleeve of her hospital gown, "This is my big brother, Kim Jaehyung" Clenching her fists, HanByeol tried holding in her tears and all the emotions that were overwhelming her.
"I'll see you around, Hana" The elder female tried walking away, "Jihyo-yah!" HanByeol wished for the heavens to let the ground swallow her whole or the skies to open up and make her disappear into thin air.
"Hana can you go back to your room? I want to get to know your new friend properly" Hana instantly implied as she bounced happily on her way. "Jihyo-yah" HanByeol threw her hand out, urging Jaehyung to not speak any further.
"I have nothing to talk with you" A grip on her hand made her pause in her steps, "Please just let me explain" HanByeol didn't know how her parents relationship had been or why did her father leave them both but she knew she had two options ; either try to mend the relationship of her parents or try her best to seperate them so that she doesn't exist in the future.
"Can we go get a cup of coffee? I'll explain everything to you" Inquisite over what the male had to explain or why wasn't he surprised at the sudden change in the behaviour of his lover, HanByeol eventually implied.
The soft ding of the vending machine, somewhat calmed HanByeol down yet she couldn't help but feel restless. "We can talk in my room" Without waiting for his reply, the female staggered on her path.
"How did you get hurt?" HanByeol was sat on her bed while Jaehyung had grabbed a stool that was kept nearby. "You wanted to explain" Her stern tone was contrasting to his, concerned one.
"I'm sorry for not turning up that day" Jaehyung's gaze was trailed down, not meeting her eyes and it pissed HanByeol off. "It was the last chance you had given me but I messed it up" No matter how the teen tried connecting the dots, she wasn't able to. "You've always been understanding of my family situations, Hana's illness and what not but yet I only disappoint you.
It might seem just like any other excuse but Hana had fainted that day and I had to rush her to the hospital." HanByeol immediately wiped off the tear that spilled out of the male's eyes, who was startled at her gesture but leaned into her touch.
Jaehyung saw his lover in HanByeol while, she saw her father. Their relationship was contrasting, even their ages but the only thing common emitting from them was LOVE. "Can you give me one last chance?"
Seo HanByeol didn't know what to reply, she wasn't sure of her further plan but her father seemed to be a great men, completely opposite of what her mother had described him as. She wondered as to why did he leave them? Or why did her mother resent him so much?
"I need time to think"
