Melanie's POV//

Tears were rolling down my face as I stared at his beautiful handwriting on the card. I remembered earlier of the other card and realized... It wasn't the same handwriting.

His was in beautiful cursive and the other was a really sloppy writing. "Melanie Hernandez please report to the counselors office." The intercom roared over the sound of the fountains.

I grabbed my bag, flowers, and card, and continued to walk to the counselors office.

When I walked in, I saw Tony and Jason in the seats. When Tony looked up and saw the roses his face lit up, Jason rolled his eyes. I wonder what he's here for.

Maybe he got in trouble or something.

"Where's Mrs. Baker?" I asked Jason. He signed and pointed to the back room.

I walked over and saw her in her chair on the computer with my information pulled up on the screen. "Mrs. Baker? You wanted to see me?" I asked. She turned and smiled.

"Yes! Close the door please?" She asked.

I closed the door and sat down in the seat by her desk and waiting for her to say something.

"Those are some beautiful flowers! Did a family member give them to you? Boyfriend? I guess all the young couples bring each other things for Valentine's Day." She asked.

"They're from Tony.. The guy out there.." I trailed off.

"You guys go out?" She asked. I shook my head and frowned.

"No ma'am. We're kind of in the friend zone." I choked out. She giggled and shook her head.

"Well, what I brought you in for was about earlier during passing period. Do you know who did it?" She asked.

I shook my head and frowned.

"I thought it was Tony, because he told me he had a surprise in my locker for sixth period and when I opened it all the blades fell out. But when I went to the locker room for ROTCJ I found the roses and card." I replied.

"Well it wasn't Tony... It was Jason." She trailed off.

"And what I really brought you in for was.. When I tried to contact your father about this I was told about the incident with your brother. Now that you have no legal guardian taking care of you and you are under the age of 18, I am sending you to a local foster care. A family will choose you and you will live with them. Your first interview with a family will be this Friday. I will be there. Actually meet me here after school so I can take you." She trailed off.

I stood there in silence, not knowing what to say. "Melanie? Are you okay?" She asked.

I nodded and smiled. "Okay, the bells about to ring so you can hang out there with Tony or go back to class." She said as she turned back to her computer.

"Okay, thank you Mrs. Baker. Have a nice evening." I mumbled. She waved and smiled.

I walked out and saw Tony falling asleep on the seat. Jason wasn't there anymore..

I sat down beside Tony and held his hand. He didn't wake up with my touch so I laid my head on his shoulder.

"I love you Melanie." He whispered.

"I- I love you Tony."
