"JUST DO IT!"

"Fine, okay," I heard Jade mutter, followed by a few precarious footsteps. As soon as I detected the auditory sensation of an impetuous stream of tap water, I sighed and relaxed my shoulders. Finally.

"I can't believe I'm doing this."

"You're doing this for your best friend, Jade," I said as I unlocked the stall.

"I don't really consider this—."

"Don't," I began, shaking my head. "Making noise just so I can pee as loud as I want is what I consider real friendship."

Jade scrunched up her nose, an evident minority of disgust flashing across her facial features. "Weirdo," she muttered while wiping her palms on her skirt.

I rolled my eyes as I slung a hand over her shoulder. "Guess who I saw today?" she questioned as we began ambling in the direction of our class.

"Channing Tatum?"

"I wish," she murmured. "But no."

I quirked an eyebrow in suspicion. "Joseph."

An anguished sigh escaped her lips. "Yup." She compressed her lips together and I pulled her closer toward me, resisting the temptation to roll my eyes.

"Get over him already. You don't deserve him. You deserve someone like young Leonardo Dicaprio."

"True," she mused, twirling a strand of her jet black hair around her index finger. Then, her brown eyes flicked back to mine and she sighed. "Feed me more compliments."

"Well, your butt is looking great nowadays. I think that those squats really helped..."

"BUT WHY ME?"

"Nina is coming too," my mother reminded me as she slung her bag over her shoulder. With narrowed eyes, she silently quelled me with a death glare, one that had me proceeding toward the front door.

Folding my arms across my chest, I inwardly sulked as I slouched down in the passenger seat. Nina, seated in the back, merrily stared out the window with a watermelon flavoured lollipop clutched in her chubby hands.

Sighing, I turned my gaze to the front window and kept silent the whole way.

As soon as we reached the nearest shopping centre, I kicked the door open and lumbered outside, tugging at the ends of my cheerleader skirt. My mother didn't even grant me enough time to change, much to my utter frustration.
