(Y/N POV)

(Max is Grant Gustin, cause he's dad.)

"Shawn, please don't leave! I can't take care of the baby alone!" I plead him, tugging on his arm. Holding him back from walking out the door.

"Let go. I will not ruin my career just because of a baby. This a bigger priority, unless you get rid of it." He sighs, ripping away from my grip.

Gasping, I look at him in disbelief.

"I'm not killing this baby, you'll have to kill me first before this-" I point to my stomach, "dies."

Tears staining my cheeks as he proceeds to walk out.

"So that's it? You're just going to run away because you're scared to be a father?" I scream walking up to him.

He ignores me, not even looking back.

"What a coward." I growl holding on to the couch's arm rest.

And just like that, the door slams and Shawn slips through my fingers.

"How am I going to take care of you?" I whimper, falling to the floor.

4 years later

"C'mon babe, you're almost done with your sand-which. If you finish your fruits too, I'll let you eat ice cream for dinner." I tell Griffin, my 3 year old daughter.

Of course I'm not going to give her ice cream for dinner, but when I say that, she eats like a pig to finish.

She usually forgets about my proposition anyway.

We are sitting in a booth at a small diner 15 minutes from home. Griffin and I decided that we needed to go shopping today.

I sigh as she vigorously nods her head taking bigger bites.

After Shawn left, I lived with my parents for a while. I was a mess; crying everyday, barely eating. But I realized a was being a selfish. I had another human to take care of. I got on my feet and went to look for a job.

I scored one to be a secretary for a successful business man, Max Connor. The interview was horrible, he was throwing dirty jokes left and right. But he was good looking so it balanced out. I was about to walk out when he told me how much it pays.

I knew I couldn't afford to give up this opportunity so I took it.

Now, Max and I are in a healthy relationship and I can finally be happy again.

I found a house with him and we moved in together.

"Mommy?" Griffin's little voice calls out, pulling me out of my reverie.

My attention goes to her plate, I see that she ate mostly all of her food. My smile grows as she smiles cheekily at me.

"Good job Hun." I exclaim giving her a high five.

As I'm wiping the crumbs off her face, someone clears their throat behind me.

I stop and turn around, seeing Shawn. He's grown taller, if that's possible. His features are sharper, but his hair is still the same.

I smile at him, it's good to see him after 4 years. You might be thinking why I'm not mad. I've gotten over that when I met Max.

"Hey (Y/N), it's nice to see you again." He smiles, mirroring mine.

"Hey! It's been so long. How's the music?" I ask, remembering that that's what broke us up.

Confusion blankets over his face as he looks behind me.

"Is that-" He points to the little girl playing with her crayons.

"My daughter, yes." I answer him sitting down again.

He slides to my side of the booth, sitting a little too close to me.

"You conceived her with me, therefore- she's mine too." He corrects looking at me.

I raise my eyebrows, "I remember you telling to get rid of the baby Shawn, now you see her once and call her yours? You didn't raise her Shawn. You weren't there for her first steps, her first words, you weren't there for any of it. You don't get to call her your daughter." I snap, becoming very defensive.

"I was dumb and naive. I should have never left you. I don't know what I was thinking, but I'm a changed man. I want you and her to be in my life again." He admits as guilt washes over his face.

"Shawn, I'm happy now, she already has a father figure in her life that she actually calls her dad, because he was there for everything." I sigh, trying to get out of the booth do we can head home.

"Who is he?" Shawn retorts, eyebrows creasing.

"That's none of your concern. Now, if you want to take my daughter from me, we'll handle it in court." I say flatly, now getting annoyed of his presence.

To think I cried over him for 2 months.

"I do think I get the right to know because she should be calling me dad!" He exclaims getting up.

I take the chance to slide out of the booth and put Griffin in her stroller.

"Who is he?" She whispers a little to loudly.

"An old friend." I tell her.

I ignore him like he did to me 4 years ago and begin to walk out the diner door.

"Please, wait. Give me another chance." Shawn tries to propose.

"My daughter can't have a coward for a dad."
