   (SHAWN'S POV)

Looking through my car window, I see (Y/N) reading to Serena, our little 4 year old daughter.

Sighing, I rest my head on the steering wheel, trying to think of a logically way to go about this.

(Y/N) and I use to date when we were in college, one thing lead to another and she was pregnant. My music career was taking off and next thing I know, I'm booked for a world tour.

I promised I would come back, and I did. One year later, I was at the front door of her house. I brought daisies, her favorite flowers and chocolates for her. Little did I know, she didn't wait for me, another man was in the picture and he opened the door.

I made some bullshit lie that this must be the wrong house, even though you were holding our baby in your arms, behind me, knowing I was here.

3 years later, I've come back, I need to resolve this and know what happened. One day we were together, the next we weren't.

Getting out of my car, I get out of my car and head the porch.

Standing here brings back the memories of the last time I was here 3 years ago.

Taking a deep breath, I knock on the door.

(Y/N POV)

There's a knock on the door, as I'm about to flip to the next page of the ABC's book I bought for Serena.

Looking at the time, I see that it's nearly 9, who could be here at this hour.

"Wait here, okay honey? Try to sing to L, if you do you get candy." I announce pinching her cheeks.

"Okay mommy!" Serena squeals, flipping to the front of the book.

Heading to the door, I look through the peephole to see a tall man. He looks friendly enough.

Opening the door swiftly, I look to see him.

He darts his head up hearing the noise of the door opening.

Recognition ripples through me, seeing his face again.

  Shawn.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, closing the door a bit to keep the heat in.

"Uh, hey (Y/N). It's nice to see you again." He awkwardly says, cupping his hands to his mouth and blowing air into them.

I hesitate to open the door for him to come in, but he was once the love of my life.

He takes the hint and walks through the door, standing in the foyer, looking around.

"Why'd you come back?" I bluntly ask.

He looks back at me before turning fully in my direction.

"I wanted to see her. I know you have a new man or whatever but that shouldn't stop me from seeing my daughter." He answers shoving his hands in his pocket.

Anger flashes through me, my mind replaying the events 3 years ago.

Shawn didn't text me at all when I needed it the most. Being pregnant at 20 is a scary thing and I didn't know if I wanted to keep the baby at that time.

Then I managed to go on without him. I called one of my best friends from the states, Ian to come help me.

He dropped everything to help Serena and I. Ian moved into the guest bedroom, saying he was going to stay for a year, then go back. I was so grateful for him.

Now he blames me for not being able to see his daughter? When he was the one that could've come back.

"It's not my fault you weren't committed to the baby. I knew it was too good to be true. The "I won't leave you" and "we'll do this together" we're all lies. You didn't stay, you didn't keep contact. She's not your daughter because she doesn't even have a dad." I sneer.

Shawn stands there, jaw clenched and ears red.

"That's not my fault you had another guy doing my job. I did come back (Y/N). You saw me standing at the door 3 years ago, but you didn't say shit. That fucker talked for you. You're the one that left me, I waited for you, I wanted to be a dad. So don't fucking point your finger at me staying its my fault when really, it's yours." He yells.

His words hit me harder than I wanted them to. Hot tears spill out of my eyes but I don't wipe them.

He deserves to know he hurt me.

"He's just a friend Shawn! We were in marching band back in high school! I called him here because I wanted Serena to have a father figure, even if it was for a year. At least he was there! So you don't get to see Serena, you're just a stranger to her!" I explode.

I didn't realize how close he was to me until I felt his hot breath fan over my face causing chills to run down my spine.

"Mommy? Who's this?" A little voice questions.

I snap my head down to see her holding the book she was reading, hair all over the place.

"He's just a friend Serena, go upstairs and get ready for bed babe, I'll be up there to tuck you in." I instruct.

She ignores what I said completely and just stares at Shawn with curiosity.

Then her eyes go wide.

"He's the person in your photos mommy, he was kissing you!" She giggles.

My face spreads into an embarrassing smile.

"You're just tired Serena, now go upstairs."

She waves frantically at Shawn as he just stares at her with awe. "Bye bye, it was nice meeting, thank you for making mommy happy." She waves trotting upstairs.

"I still the photos too." He speaks up.

"I never deleted them." He adds.

I wipe my tears from my cheeks, my heart fluttering at his comment. But I haven't forgot what we were talking about previously.

"You hurt me Shawn, a lot. I still haven't forgotten." I sigh, sitting on the little chair. He stays following my actions.

"I know I did. And I'm truly sorry (Y/N). I never meant to, please understand. I hope one day you can forgive me." He responds, taking my hand with his.

"I will, but today isn't the day." I answer pulling my hand from his.
