Chapter Thirty-Three

Lexi POV~

As hard as I tried I couldn't find the strength to wake up. Based on what the nurses have said, I've been in the coma for 3 months and my parents were contemplating whether or not to pull the plug. All the sudden I felt someone's lips touch mine and just like some kind of Sleeping Beauty magic voodoo shit, I felt myself starting to wake up.

Ashton POV~

Joy and David had just confirmed sadly that they would be pulling the plug tomorrow due to the fact that it was "cruel to keep her suffering". During the time Lexi was in the hospital I began to ponder my feelings for her, I mean I had grown up with her and there was never any kind of spark, but I didn't want her to die because what if we did start liking each other, I also couldn't let her die due to the fact that she was my sister's best friend, my best friend's sister, and one of my best friends as well. I knew in the back of my mind that Lexi had always had a school girl crush on me, so desperate times called for desperate measures. She wasn't ugly or unattractive, I just never felt for her like that but I knew what I had to do. After 10 minutes of finally gaining courage, I made sure I was alone and leaned down to connect our lips. Almost immediately following the contact, her machine began to beep and I ran out to go find a doctor.

Naomi POV~

Me and Calum had just arrived at the hospital due to the fact that today we had to say goodbye. Goodbye to my best friend, and goodbye to his sister. The car ride and walk into the hospital was silent, which is why we were frightened when Ashton came running out of her room screaming.

"Naomi, Calum, she's awake, she's awake!!" He screamed.

"We don't have time for your sick games Ashton, I came to say goodbye to my sister and I'd like to do it in peace." Calum groaned.

"I'm not playing Calum, I was in her room kis-saying goodbye to her, and her machine started beeping and I called the doctors and they said she was awake but is in remission so they're calling your parents." He rushed.

"Oh my god Nai, she's awake, my sister's really awake." He beamed, picking me up and spinning me around with tears in his eyes.

"I know Cal, I know." I giggled as I cried happy tears and kissed him.

Soon enough everyone had rushed to the hospital and we were finally able to go in and visit her. When we walked in she widened her eyes and pointed to her throat telling us she couldn't talk due to soreness.

"LEX YOU'RE AWAKE!" Calum yelled as he ran to her bed and fell into her embrace. That was the bond of siblings, it never ended.

"Hi best friend." I said calmly due to my teary state and just ran into her and Calum's arms until Ashton, Michael, Luke, Kennedy, and Bella joined our group hug and in that moment, we knew it was back to the way it should be.

Calum POV~

Lexi had to stay in the hospital for a few more days so the doctors could make sure she was 100% before returning her back to our care. Reese and Anne's wedding had been postponed for obvious reasons and they called it back on for two weeks from now. Needless to say, things were beginning to fall into place now that Lexi was safe and we were all pretty excited for it.

"Baby." Naomi whined from her side of the bed. Her parents had been letting us sleep in the same room recently because of our worry for Lexi.

"Yes bug?" I turned so she could see me. Her warm hazel eyes looked tired because she hasn't had a good night sleep in weeks, which also contributed to the knots in her dirty blonde hair.

"I'm cold and you're hogging my entire duvet." She said as she pulled at the soft white blanket closer to her cheeks.

"Sorry baby, I'm just worried." I apologized.

"Cal, she's okay now, they're just running a few tests to make sure she has no other issues." She comforted.

"Yeah, I guess so." I answered as we both fell into a peaceful slumber, that is until Naomi started up again with her daily nightmare she had been having for the past 3 months. She started squirming around and screaming.

"It's my fault Calum, I asked her to go get diapers, I was texting her to hurry home, it was all my fault." She cried, making it my turn to comfort her.

"Hey shhh listen, do you remember what you told me before we fell asleep?" I asked and she nodded, "okay, well then you know she will be okay and you did nothing wrong, you didn't know."

"Okay." She whispered as she did every night after I had calmed her down. I hoped that since Lexi was okay now, the nightmares would stop (and so would my anxiety), but I guess that won't happen until she comes home. I lightly kissed her head so she fell back asleep and then drifted into a deep sleep myself.

HEY EVERYONE IM BACK AND I GIVE YOU COMPLETE PERMISSION TO KILL ME. So I know this isn't a good excuse but I've been really busy lately and it's finally summer so I promise to update more. Again thank you so much if you actually read my story. Also it's almost been a year since I started this story so thank you for staying with me through my short and infrequent updating.
