I heard a sound. My head snapped upwards. I looked around suspiciously. I could see the slight glow of orange in the near distance. Focusing in on it, I quickly recognized the shape of a human face. Oh no. Quickly, pretend to be asleep.
The trick seemed to work, as the other boy pushed into the clearing, looked around, and then walked away. I sat up. God, that was close. I could hear my heart pounding in my chest. What if living here is illegal? What if mum finds me? What if... My thoughts took over me as I drifted off into sleep.
