There's something wrong with Dan. His band is glowing orange, and he seems very skittish. Everybody left except Dan, which made me confused. What's going on?
"Phil..." Dan started, the broke off, taking a deep breath.
"What is it?" I asked, cocking my head to one side.
He takes a deep breath, then just seemingly pulls a box of nowhere. I look at it, surprised. What could it be?
I open the packaging, extremely neat I note, and inside the box sits a little plush lion. It's so cute! There's even a blue ribbon, one of my favorite colors, tied to it. I spot small writing on the ribbon.
To Phil,
I hope you get better.

It was a short letter, but that's all it needs to touch my heart. I look at Dan, who stared at me expectantly. I smiled. "Thank you so much," I say, holding the lion close. Something tugged at the sides of Dan's lips as his brown eyes brightened after I said that.
"You should get some rest now," he said, while heading towards the door that lead outside the room.
"You guys will visit tomorrow?" I inquired. He nodded, waving a goodbye as he stepped into the hallway and closed the door.
