I called mum to know that I was bringing home a friend. Well, I hope he thinks I'm my friend. We soon arrived, and my mother was kind and said that my friend could stay the night. She said dad had some business to take care of and wouldn't be back until the next day.
As they clambered into my room, I asked the other boy, "Well, I've never asked your name... so what is it?"
"My... my name's Philip, but you can just call me Phil. Phil Lester."
"Hi Phil, I'm Daniel, but Dan is good enough. Last name's Howell."
We sat in silence for a few minutes. then Phil spoke quietly, "Are you my friend?"
I chuckled. "I sure hope so."
