Legolas's pov

"How are the borders, Legolas?" My father, King Thranduil asks. His bright blue eyes are full of curiosity. His hair flows down his broad shoulders and onto his blue robes.

"Satisfactory." I respond. He nods to me from atop his wooden throne. We are inside Thranduil's Hall. Its enormous size makes it feel as though we are still outside. The brown interior gives it an earthy feel.

"Very well, I want a written weekly report due by tomorrow." He tells me. I bow my head in respect, before leaving the hall, and walking out into the woods of Mirkwood. My home. My beautiful home. The trees and vines twist together, and the green and brown colors are comforting to a wood elf like myself.

My father has told me stories about how the love for the realm must be passed down from father to son because his father, Oropher, loved Mirkwood more than any other elf. My grandfather even founded our realm.

"Legolas!" My second in command, Thallan Stillhawk greets, interrupting my thoughts. I nod and grin slightly at him. His long brown hair was pulled back slightly, and it was braided, but yet it looked messy and untamed as always.

"Father...." I start, and then I cough and continue. "The king," I correct myself,  "Would like a weekly report by tomorrow." I tell him. He nods and strokes his chin, his green eyes glittering with thought.

"I will-," he starts, but is interrupted by one of my border patrolmen running into the clearing. Laeroth Dres. He bows in front my me and nods his head at Thallan.

"Legolas. Thallan." He says.

"What is it Laeroth?" I ask him. He breathes heavily for a few seconds before regaining his composure.

"There has been a problem at the east border." He remarks with a worried look.

"Regarding?" Thallan asks.

"Three humans...and a something."

"A something?" Thallan repeats. Laeroth nods.

"You will see what I mean when I show you."

"Alright. We trust you." Thallan sighs.

"We have them surrounded, but we need you to come investigate." Laeroth replies. I make sure I have all my weapons together before I start leading the way through the woods. Time to deal with three strangers and a something.
