Legolas's pov

Glynn shoves me away from the cell, stopping my thoughts. I leave the dungeon, thinking about what had come over me. Gollum needs to be confined and kept safe. Or does he really? Maybe he deserves some freedom. But Aragorn told me that we needed to keep him as safe as possible, in order to keep him protected from any attackers. Gandalf trusts us, and we cannot let him down.

I walk down the hall and into the throne room. My father is casually sprawled across the wooden seat, reading a scroll. When I am standing in front of him, he looks up at me.

"Ion nin," He says, slightly surprised. "It is good that you came, we need to talk." I raise my eyebrow, confused, What does he need to talk about? I thought we had already met an understanding about our views of running the kingdom. He swings himself out of the throne and stands in front of me, his hands behind his back. Seeing my confusion, he smiles sadly.

"I saw you and Glynn today." He states simply, his tone neutral. Heat instantly rises to my face.

"Ada, please-" I plead, but he raises his hand to silence me.

"Quiet." He orders. "Let your Ada speak." He says with a hint of amusement in his voice. My gaze falls to the ground and I nod. He walks around me, his judgmental eyes scanning me.

"You love her, don't deny it." He says. My cheeks redden at his somewhat truthful statement. "She has grown feelings for you." He stops pacing around me. "It needs to stop now Legolas." Anger fills my insides.

"Why should it?" I demand. "Love is not something you can just turn on and off, it is not something you can control. You can't just stop it." He narrows his eyes.

"Ion nin, you need to hear me out." He tells me, his crystal eyes meeting my own. "I have seen this before." His gaze falls. "In fact, I have been through it myself before. You love someone that can easily be lost." He forces his sorrow filled eyes back to mine. "I don't want you to go through what I have been through. You do not deserve it and neither does Glynnii."

"Ada, I'm sorry but-" He cuts me off again.

"Leave, Legolas." He commands.

"But-"

"Leave." His tone so cold that I dare not argue with him. With a stubborn heart I trudge out of the throne room and into the halls. Why does he have to be this way? Why couldn't I just love her and everything be okay? An idea comes to my mind. I could leave Mirkwood and take Glynn with me, without anyone to tell me what to do.
