Third person's POV

Boruto watched you closely as you cried. Nobody had ever thanked him or hugged him like that before, except for Himawari. It was an unfamiliar experience for him, and he couldn't help but wonder why.

Why was he the one you chose to open up to?

Memories flashed through his mind, back to the time when you two first met at the beginning of school. You had always wanted at least one friend who would be there for you, cheer you up, and wipe away your tears, even though you had your brothers.

But now, here you were, in his arms, thanking him for being there. It was strange, but it warmed his heart in a way he couldn't describe.

"Crybaby," he chuckled, "Crying doesn't help, and neither does thanking anybody. Just smile. That's enough for me."

You looked away and wiped your tears. Boruto gently touched the corners of your lips and pushed upwards, trying to coax a smile from you.

"Hmm..." he frowned, "I don't know how Himawari does that to cheer people up..."

He pulled away, somewhat dissatisfied with the result as your lips returned to a frown.

You both laughed together, feeling a sense of camaraderie that had been missing for so long.

As you watched the sun begin to set, you couldn't help but reflect on the world's apparent normalcy. The sun always shone as if everything were in perfect condition. You wished for your lives to be as peaceful as that sunset.

"What do you mean by that?" Boruto asked.

"Living peacefully and yelling at our parents at the end, except your dad, for everything that happened," you explained, your voice tinged with sadness.

The thought of your mother being your enemy weighed heavily on your heart. You still missed her, despite the anger you felt towards her.

Boruto pondered your words. "Does he know that his father is even alive?" you wondered aloud. The uncertainty gnawed at you.

"Old man? Well, I don't really know, to be honest. I don't care if he's dead or alive, he isn't that important to me," Boruto replied casually.

You couldn't help but sigh at his response. It was the same as before—indifferent, even if he didn't truly feel that way.

But you couldn't bear it any longer. You decided to reveal the truth about Naruto to him, to tell him that his father was still alive. You wanted to see how he would react, hoping for a happier outcome.

"Boruto, listen. Your dad isn't dead or gone. He's—"

Before you could finish your sentence, you were interrupted by a cheerful voice calling your name.

"Onee-chaaaaaaaaaaaaann~!"

You suddenly became aware of your position: your head resting on Boruto's chest, his arms wrapped around you, and you sitting on his lap. Embarrassment coursed through you, and you yelled in shock before falling to the ground. Himawari rushed to the balcony door upon hearing the loud thud.

"Onee-chan, are you—"

You quickly sat up, your face burning with embarrassment. Boruto stared at you, his expression a mixture of surprise, hurt, and amusement. Despite the situation, you grinned mischievously.

"Oooooooookay...?" Himawari questioned, finishing her inquiry.

She glanced at Boruto, who had a wide grin on his face, and then back to you. You tried to play it off as though nothing inappropriate had happened.
