Feel
Two Hours Later
Natalie slid away from a sleeping Shane, not caring if she woke him up.
He stirred awake and watched as she pulled her jeans over her ass.
"Going somewhere?" Shane asked groggily.
"Sleeping over isn't part of the deal," Natalie said, a smirk playing on her lips.
"Explain this whole deal bullshit to me," Shane sighed, propping himself up on his elbows.
"I don't want to do the whole feelings thing anymore. Being in love hurts too much. I loved my son-- he died. I loved my husband-- he cheated on me. So I just don't feel like doing it anymore," Natalie said simply.
Shane scoffed loudly.
"What happened to trying?" Shane asked harshly.
"I tried trying. And then I realized I just can't do it. Too much has happened," Natalie shrugged.
"Just think of me as a friend with benefits who just happens to be your wife," Natalie said with a curt smile.
"What if I want to love you?" Shane asked.
"Then that's your problem. I'm not doing the whole love thing anymore," Natalie shrugged.
"You just want sex?" Shane scoffed.
Shane knew that this wasn't like Natalie at all.
They both had changed since the world ended.
"I could've chosen anyone. I chose you because after 16 years of marriage, a person knows your body pretty well. It's strategy, not love," Natalie said.
"We'll see about that," Shane said, licking his bottom lip.
"No, we won't," Natalie said simply, walking out of the tent.
Shane shook his head, an angry chuckle escaping his lips.
Natalie popped her head back into the tent.
"Jesus, Shane, you can't spend all day sitting in here by yourself thinking about my ass. We've got a little girl to find," Natalie said with a sly smile.
"Is thinking about your ass breaking the rules?" Shane snapped.
"Let's just go find the damn girl," Natalie sighed.
"Cold bitch," Shane muttered.
"Like an hour ago you thought I was a hot bitch," Natalie retorted, walking out of the tent.
She didn't care if anyone called her a bitch anymore.
She just didn't.
It was who she was becoming and she was okay with that.
