Chapter 34 - Don't bother us

"Sir Toru?", a voice suddenly rang out.

I turned around with Maria in my arms, and saw a large group of people looking at me in awe and respect. They were lead by Jes, Girax and Tiras, who had spoken up.

"What is it?"

"We'd like to sincerely express our thanks for saving the city", Tiras said.

Following his words, all the people on the rampart bowed to me.

"Don't bow, it's making me uncomfortable", I quickly waved them away.

Seeing my casual attitude, a lot of the young men and women present looked enthusiastically to me. Did they expect I'd be really arrogant or what?

Looking at the Guild leaders who had also sincerely bowed, I explained myself:" It was only for the reward though. It's not that big of a deal"

Annoyingly, the crowd got loud and was waaayyy too exhilarated.
Fed up with the busy atmosphere, I wanted to sleep. Also, it was bedtime for Maria, so I wanted to leave even faster.
"Oy, I want to sleep, can someone get us a good inn?", I yelled to get over the noise.

"Yes, yes!! I know a great inn, please follow me!!"

"Don't joke, your family's inn is like a f*cking stable! Don't you even feel ashamed to present your second-ranked inn to our city's hero?"

"Yes, you're right!! Sir Hero, please follow me to the Holy Water inn!! It's the best inn the Church owns!!

"Sir Hero, the inn I want to take you to..."

The crowd got even noisier than before and I gnashed my teeth in frustration.

"ENOUGH!!!", I yelled at the top of my lungs. Unconsciously, a little of the [Demoralizing Shout] Skill got mixed in my shout, scaring the crowd. It immediately quieted down.

"You there", I randomly pointed to the crowd," Get us to the best inn in town"

"Y-Y-Yes, Si-Sir Hero", a high voice rang out.

The person I randomly pointed out, was a young teenaged girl who looked like she was going to explode from the accumulated stress. Her cute, round head was bright red and hung down, looking at her feet. She wore simple clothes and looked like a low-levelled adventurer.

The girl didn't look at us, but didn't move either, seemingly afraid of doing anything wrong.
I smiled. This girl looked like she'd be fun to tease.

I walked towards her very quickly and put my head close to hers, whispering:" Lead the way please, miss"

The girl jumped in fright and stumbled backwards. Her foot suddenly slipped and she fell over the edge of the rampart.

But she suddenly stopped in the middle of her fall.
I had grabbed the girls clothes and held her up in the air with just one arm. Not that that was difficult when you had over 5.000.000 STR.
I sighed:" Can you be a bit less frightened? It's dangerous, you might end up killed"

Hearing the second line that was mostly used for very dangerous missions being said in such a context, the crowd slipped in a laugh while the girl, believe it or not, became even redder than she already was.

I pulled the girl back up the rampart with one arm while the other was still holding onto Maria, who was gniffling to the girl.

With the girl trembling like a leaf when she had stood back on the rampart, it'd be annoying if she'd fall again, so I took her wrist. This caused her to softly start mumbling about sexual contact and marriage and sh*t like that, so I ignored her for now.

"Well then, Guild Masters, I'll be going then. I'll come for my reward tomorrow"

"Yes, Sir Toru", Jes answered," You must be tired. We'll have to bother you tomorrow then"

Hearing her words, I was too lazy to answer so I just nodded and jumped off the rampart. This action startled the girl who I was still holding onto.

But before she could even scream, I changed my grip and held her by her waist instead of her wrist and had already activated Wind Magic to step on the air. A shadow flashed, and Ilya silently appeared next to me, using the same magic.

"Well then Missy, where do we go?"

The girl who was held by her waist by me was seemingly having an internal struggle and didn't listen to me.

"You little...", I murmured before an evil grin appeared on my face.

Without warning, I let go of the girl.
It took her a while before realising she had begun to fall down, but when she did, her face instantly lost all colour and she started to scream even louder than the sirene on an ambulance.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH-"

In the middle of her fall, I got down myself and caught her around her middle about one meter (3.28 ft.) above the roofs of the houses in the city.

"Listen to me when I'm talking! If you don't like it here, do your job and you'll be able to go sooner!"

"Ah-ah-y-y-yes, I-I underst-st-stand, S-Sir Hero", she stuttered while the colour on her face slowly came back.

"Lead us to the inn"

"Y-y-yes, Sir Hero. T-the inn i-is th-that way", she pointed.

"Alright"

Before leaving, I turned around to the Guild Leaders and shot out a small, purple fire to them. Then I turned around and left.

Girax' POV

Seeing Toru and company jump off the rampart, I suddenly felt shocked. Only Wind-attribute magicians would do something like that.
I almost staggered back in shock when I saw them use Wind-magic without any difficulty.
That's just... finding a mage who could perform such high-level magic like air walking was already really difficult, but Toru had also used Fire and Lightning type magic. That's triple attribute you know!! There're only six of them in the entire empire!!

Suddenly, Toru shot out purple flames in our direction. An attack?! Just as I was going to order to take defensive positions, the flame stopped in mid-air trembling heavily. Then, it split into several smaller flames that seemed to be forming... words? This was the first time I had seen this kind of magic, and I was not alone.
I doubt there's anyone in the empire who has ever seen this magic.

Anticipating the message that was slowly being formed, the crowd got loud again and started to speculate about it.

"Would it be like, an order?!"

"Are you mad? Why'd he need weaklings like us?"

"Wait, wait!! I can read the first word!! Don't..."

But when the sentence appeared, everyone almost fell from the rampart coughing up blood.
