Sonnet #86

You hid the ring in a rose red as blood

The waterfalls in my eyes turned to flood

The aching love in my chest would not stop

I knew I wouldn't stand another flop

Many faces were once where you are now

Down on their knees, ready to take a vow

To be by my side in sickness and health

The tears in my eyes dried up with such stealth

I looked at you and saw the irony

I wondered how much you'll really want me

When you find out I carry damned, dark wings

And in my womb never will a child spring

I knew this ring was more like a dagger

I swallowed hard, can't afford to stagger
