***4 Weeks Later***
"So everyone now that the gates are open to new comers we're gonna have to condense our living situation. We should be good with two houses and the rest can fit in the school." Carter said
"We do need to have thorough checks on people before we let them in though." Edge said
"I completely agree with you there Edge, I'm thinking when people come in we take their weapons at least until we start to trust them." Carter said
"I was about to recommend that." Skylar said
"Since we are trying to make this place a safe zone for all we need to stop the mindless killing I know a few weeks ago we killed a man, but it was valid. So basically what I'm saying is don't kill unless it's justified." Carter said
"You know Carter I respect what you're doing here." Zoe said
"And of my meteorology is correct spring is coming around, we haven't had snow for a few days now." Carter said
Carter walked back toward the school and called for the Vikings on the radio.
"Felix are you there?" Carter asked
He received no answer.
"Felix?" Carter asked again
Still no answer
"Edge grab a horse and come with me, I think the aquarium is in trouble!" Carter yelled
Carter and Edge ran and grabbed two horses and went out the front gate. The horses galloped at full speed all the way to Denver. Once carter and Edge got into view of the city they saw a large cloud of black smoke coming from what looked like the aquarium.
"Shit, is that the aquarium?" Edge asked
"I hope not." Carter said
They continued on the horses ran past the deadheads that were walking toward the smoke. once they got close their suspicions were confirmed the aquarium was on fire.
"Fuck!" Carter yelled
"What do we do?" Edge asked
"We need to go in." Carter said
"Are you nuts!" Edge yelled
"There could be survivors, we need to hurry the dead heads are getting closer." Carter said
"Ok lets leave horses here as a distraction, should keep some of the zeds from walking in while we're searching." Edge said
"Ok. Lets go." Carter said
They jumped off the horses and ran into the burning building.
"Go left, I'm gonna look for Felix!" Carter yelled
"Ok" Edge said running down a hallway
Edge ran down the hallway desperately looking for survivors toward the end of the hallway he saw a flaming figure waling toward him. When it got closer he saw it was a deadhead he pulled his gun out and shot it. Carter went to the room that Felix is normally in and saw him laying on the ground burnt.
"No! Felix!" Carter yelled
"Carter?" Felix said quietly
"Who did this Felix? Who?!" Carter asked kneeling next to Felix
"The Clowns, they've evolved. The masquerade is stronger than ever Carter." Felix said
"The Clowns?" Carter asked
"Carter go, get to your people before they do." Felix said
"Ok I will." Carter said getting up
"One more thing, please put me down I don't want to be one of those things." Felix said
"Felix?" Carter said
"Do it Carter Please." Felix said
Carter pulled out his 1911 and put it to Felix's head, he turned his head to the side, closed his eyes, and pulled the trigger. He looked up and saw five flaming deadheads coming toward him he started shooting at them missing most of his shots. he shot until he ran out of ammo. He put his gun in the holster and started running.
"Edge! Run!" Carter yelled
He kept running and Edged came out in front of him and the ran out the door and jumped in a car and drove back to the school. Carter stopped in front of the gates.
"What happened?" Edge asked
"Its a group named the Clowns they came in and burnt the place to the ground." Carter said
"We gonna go after them?" Edge said
"I don't think they know where we are, lets keep it that way. We tell no one what happened or what we saw but be on guard and ready to defend this place if they do show up." Carter said
"Ok will do." Edge said
They pulled into the school and parked the car. Skylar ran to carter when he got out.
"What happened?" Skylar asked
"The batteries in there radio went dead." Carter said
Skylar kissed Carter and went to tell everyone else.
