"We've opened our gates to new arrivals recently, that's the first step in recreating civilization. We need order, some kind of law system. We enforce those laws with a prison we make in the school, no more exiles. If we do this we can get closer to how the world once was. Maybe branch out and find more groups to trade and with. There's gotta be more people out there.." Carter said
The safe zone got quiet ten the noise of a loud truck coming toward the gate made Carter pull his gun. Edge looked at Carter and Carter nodded.
"Everyone go somewhere safe, let me and Edge check this out." Carter said
"Carter why are you so worried, you said we need to be more civilized and start inviting people in." Marcus said
"This is different, but no matter what we won't kill anybody remember no killing." Carter said
Carter and Edge walked toward the gate the truck was still driving down the road fairly fast.
"He's not stopping." Edge said
"Run!" Carter yelled
They ran away from the gate and a semi truck smashed through and stopped right behind him. Carter turned around and shot an angry glare at the driver. A pickup came in behind the semi and people wearing clown masks got out and aimed their guns at Carter and Edge. Skylar heard the ruckus and peeked around the corner of the building they were behind.
"Everyone stay quiet and calm let them handle this." Skylar said
A man walked out in front and pulled off his mask.
"Carter I don't like this." Edge whispered
"I don't either." Carter whispered back
"Hello you unfortunate sons of bitches, I'm Dalton and welcome to the new world!" The guy yelled
"New world?" Carter asked
"Yeah from now until your sorry asses die of old age you work for me." Dalton said
"I'm not working for anyone." Carter said dominantly
"Oh yes you are, you work for me I want your people I want to train them to be fighters and scouts, you have a decent sized community I saw it and figured, well there's my army. Not that I don't already have one. So where are these people I'm anxious to meet them?" Dalton asked
"There's no one else." Carter said
"Now don't lie to me....uh. What's your name?" Dalton asked
"Carter." Carter said
"And mister quite man over there." Dalton asked
"E..." Carter said getting cut off
"No.. let him say it he's a big boy." Dalton said
"Edge." Edge said
"He speaks! That's more like it some cooperation here!" Dalton said slightly hopping in the air
"I'm not lying it's just us." Carter said
"Carter I already warned you once." Dalton said pulling out a switchblade and putting it to Carters neck
"I told you." Carter said
"Ok, you see that lovely lady that's my girlfriend Andrea. Isn't she smokin'? You know what don't answer that. Honey can you come and make sure Edge doesn't do anything funny." Dalton said
Skylar looked around the corner again and saw Dalton holding a knife to Carter throat.
"There gonna kill him!" Skylar said
Skylar ran out and everyone followed her
"No!" She yelled
"Oh well would you look at that there is other people here! Carter you lied to me." Dalton said putting the knife back in his pocket.
"Don't hurt him!" Skylar yelled
"Hey this must be your girl and and that little boy he looks like you he must be yours." Dalton said
Carter nodded
"Honey, I'm not gonna hurt him, let me rephrase that I'm not gonna kill him." Dalton said
"Don't!" Noah yelled
"Noah stay away." Carter said
"No! He is gonna be a great addition to my army I can already tell he knows how to survive." Dalton said
"I could show you by painting this sidewalk with your brains." Noah said
"Woah those are fighting words kid. You do know this isn't a game. Your father lied to me and I'm gonna have to show him that lying is not good." Dalton said
"If your gonna do something don't do it here these people don't need to see it." Carter said
"I respect that it would kill your ego if they saw their leader in tears wouldn't it." Dalton said
Dalton looked at everyone and smiled.
"Well Carter, time to go!" Dalton yelled
He grabbed Carter by the jacket and drug him into a truck and they drove off.
Everyone started whispering to each other.
"He'll he be back and I guarantee he'I'll have that guys head with him." Noah said
