WARRIORS: Moonstar's Decision

Chapter 15: "Apprentices, am I Right?"

The wind blew across the side alley as Moonstar, Heartsong, Eagleeye, and Rippletail were taking their apprentices out to explore the territory. The four of them had been chosen to mentor one Jewelfur and Pigeonflight's kits. Moonstar was mentoring Juniperpaw, Heartsong was mentoring Slushpaw, Eagleeye was mentoring Snowpaw, and Rippletail was mentoring Sparrowpaw. 

Moonstar sat down and so did the other mentors, as their apprentices stood in front of them. Rippletail asked the apprentices, "Do you know where we are?" 

The apprentices huddled together, whispering. Snowpaw turned, his green eyes shining, "Is this the training alley?"

Frowning Heartsong mewed, "No Snowpaw, this is the side alley. We occasionally hunt here, although this is mostly where Skywing and Goldenpaw store their herbs."

Snowpaw looked sad, but his mentor Eagleeye reassured him that it was okay to get it wrong. Moving along the group showed up at the SquirrelClan border, Moonstar addressed the apprentices, "Do you know where we are now?"

"Is this the SquirrelClan border?" Replied Sparrowpaw.

Smiling Moonstar mewed, "Yes it is, and why do we not like SquirrelClan?"

After a moments pause Slushpaw answered, "Didn't they make fun of you, Moonstar?"

"Yes, you guys clearing payed attention to Jewelfur's stories." Purred Eagleeye.

Juniperpaw smiled and stared wonderously up at her mentor. "I'm so glad that Moonstar's my mentor, she's the best leader LeafClan's ever had!"

"And the only leader." Snowpaw teased.

Giving her brother a frustrated stare Juniperpaw mewed, "So?! That just makes her extra special!"

With a flick of her tail Heartsong said, "Come on, let's get moving."

Letting out a mrrow of laughter, Eagleeye purred, "Apprentices, am I right?"

Giggling Moonstar started to walk, "Come on, I don't think Heartsong and Rippletail can handle them on their own."
