~Chapter 6~

Clover

Traumatic.

That’s how Clover described the experience of being locked in the closet. She was so scared and desperate back there. Fortunately for her, she didn’t get any flashbacks of that because of her photographic memory. Though, she didn’t want it to happen again. Merilda promised to make her suffer for that whole day, and now the day is done, she wouldn’t be suffering because of Merilda.

She was beyond thankful that Ash had saved her. She just hoped that he wouldn’t ask her about it. She wanted to be on her own, nobody disturbing her, or nobody being bothered my Merilda because of her.

She decided to skip lunch again and head to the field to read the book. Mrs. Mackie told her that she’s still busy, so Clover was studying all on her own. Shielding her eyes from the sun, she went to a shaded spot below a tree and sat there. She was facing towards the forest, so no one could see her.

She eagerly opened the book and, again, flipped to a random page.

There was a picture on the left, as usual and this time, it showed a goddess. She wore a white glowing chiton that was sleeveless and it reached to her calves. Her bright eyes were looking up at the night sky. She had a raven colored hair (which was slightly lighter than Artemis’) and her skin was fair. Lastly, there was a crescent moon shape – that seemed like a tattoo – on her forehead. Her features had little similarity to Artemis herself.

Clover gazed at the beautiful woman before turning her gaze to the title:

Σελενε

Selene, she read, the goddess of the moon. She controlled the moon and is Helios’s sister. She had great power over the moon before it was eaten in total darkness and now relies on the sun for light. Now, at present, the Romans took her title as goddess of the moon then gave it to Artemis.

Clover stopped after that, furrowing her eyebrows. She knew the moon’s light came from the sun, not itself but based on this, it had it natural light. And then what confused her more is that Artemis was now the goddess of the moon.

She brushed it off and turned to the next page.

The next picture showed a picture of a middle aged man with golden colored hair. He was flashing a bright smile that showed off all his pearly whites. He wore a princely outfit that matched his yellow glow. He stood on a sun chariot.

Ηελιοσ

Helios, it said.

Helios, Selene’s brother, used to take control the sun. He always stayed in the bright orb, driving his sun chariot that transformed into various vehicles. Now the title of god of the sun is now given to Apollo, the twin brother of Artemis. It goes the same with Artemis and Selene.

Again, she encountered the same thing. She flipped to the next page without thinking about it. It showed a strange man with two heads. One was looking to the left, and one looking to the right.

Ιανυσ

Janus.

The minor god of doors, choices and the past and future. Janus would likely to appear if you need decision making. His left head looks into the past and his right head looks into the future. His two heads would often argue when making a decision.

This minor god was interesting to Clover, but she turned the page, excited of what to see.

The new picture showed a little girl with straight brown hair. Her eyes were warm and welcoming. She was holding a stick, poking it on the flames in front of her.
