Jamie's P.O.V.

"Thanks dad." I mumble.

Mrs. Granth turns to me and asks me, "Are you ready?"

I nod, not trusting myself to speak. I didn't actually think he was going to let me. I mean I was gonna try to go anyways but now that he let me I don't feel guilty. Guilty: no. Anxious: yes.

"Come on, let's go!" Angelina says with a smile.

We walk, the three of us towards the door. I hand the keys to Mrs. Granth since they're hers, and since I don't know my way around town.

Then again even if I did, I wouldn't drive, that'd just be weird. Driving someone else around in their car with their keys. Weird.

See? This is what happens when I get nervous. I try not to think at all about what's going to happen and distract myself with useless stuff.

We get in the car. Mrs. Granth in the drivers seat (obviously) and me in the front. I wouldn't have minded sitting in the backseat but Angelina left it open so it would be rude and awkward if I didn't take it.

Mrs. Granth reversed and started driving in the opposite direction than the one we came in (obviously).

While trying to busy my mind I realized how careful Mrs. Granth is while she drives. When I'm nervous I pick up little details, anything and everything actually, to keep the thoughts giving me anxiety at bay.

I look in the rear view mirror to see what Angelina is doing. I was expecting her to be on her phone texting away but no. She sat there with her eyes closed, eyebrows in a V, deep in thought.

I couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking about, what made her so nervous or serious? I couldn't tell since her eyes were closed, eyes usually reveal the most.

I look to the road and see a pinkish purplish hospital a small distance away. This is it. This is the day I meet my mom, moments away.
