I was in the middle of cooking a nice dinner for Adam and I. I hadn't had much time to actually make dinner for us in awhile. I've been so busy with planning this wedding party to celebrate our marriage that I hadn't had time to be a wife. And on top of that work has been good but a little hard so I've been dealing with making sure I keep up on it.

"Babe?" I hear Adam walk into the house. It was 7 already. He was usually home around 5:30 to 6 most nights. He was a little late.

I would've called but I figured he was probably stuck in a meeting or something.

"In the kitchen!" I yell out to him as I grabbed the lasagna I had made for dinner, out of the oven.

"Hey." He walks in and kisses my lips. "Smells good." He says. "Thanks. It should be done soon, the garlic bread just needs to heat up in the oven." I wipe my hands on a dish towel before looking at him.

"How was work?" I ask. "Fine." He nods.

"I actually needed to talk to you." He says. "Okay?" I narrow my eyes questionably.

"Come." He motions me to the couch in the living room. I follow him in the living room and take a seat next to him on the couch. He positions himself to face me.

"What I'm about to tell you is going to be a lot to take in, and I don't want you freaking out about it or anything." He says with a reassuring look. "Okay.." i trail off confusingly.

"The other day my lawyers called me. They said someone was suing me." I couldn't help but gasp a little. That sounded extremely scary.

"They weren't sure who was yet. But they were keeping me updated. I figured it was just a unsatisfied client or something. Figured I'd just have to pay them a required amount and then nothing." He shrugs.

"But that isn't the case. Because-" he pauses, running his hand through his hair.

I felt suddenly nervous, not because this sounded horrible to began with but because Adam actually looked worried himself.

"Because it's Nicole that is suing me." I raise my eyebrows at him, my mouth unintentionally falling open.

"What?" I ask in disbelief.

"She's trying to sue me for my company. Or even a part share of my company. She believes it's her right and she has some stuff that proves that I considered it hers before we divorced. My lawyers are trying to make a promising case but with the case she has, I think she's gonna be able to have it her way." He gives me a sad look.

"But! I mean she can't just do that! She divorced you meaning she gave up all those rights! She can't just take your company like it's nothing!" I yell. I was extremely confused. And angry!

To think I sent her an invitation to our party today! How disgusting of her!

"I know, I'm going to figure it all out. But as of now, you need to just keep this between us. If my dad found out about the situation I've gotten the company he built into, he'd freak out." I nod, completely agreeing with him.

Although the company is worth a lot more now then it was when it was his fathers, and probably has a lot of protection over it, a lot of lawyers, it was still scary.

"I'm sorry this is happening to you baby." I run my hand down his cheek. He smiles before grabbing my waist and bringing me closer to him. I lay my head on his chest, taking a deep breath of his cologne.

He smelt good.

I felt so bad for him. His company means everything to him and if he loses it, I'm not sure what he'd do. What we'd do. Of course we'll be fine but it's just something that's been apart of his life since he was a kid. His father built the company from the bottom, and Adam managed to make it better ever since his dad retired.

"We're going to be fine." I whisper to Adam. "I know." He places a kiss on my forehead, letting it linger for a few extra seconds. "I'm gonna fix this." He adds. "I promise."

My eyes flutter open, the room was dark signaling it was probably the middle of the night. I sat up, looking around for Adam who didn't appear to be in the bed. I grab my phone looking at the time. It was 3 in the morning.

I stand up, grabbing one of Adams hoodies and putting it on.

I walk out of the room down the hall into his office. He wasn't in there. I bit my lip debating to check downstairs.

I walk down into the family room. No one. Into the living room, no sign of him.

Finally I walked into the kitchen. He sat on one of the barstools. A familiar glass in his hands filled with his hard liquor. His face was in his hands. I watched as he sighed, gulping down the rest of his drink. He ran his hand through his hair before grabbing the bottle and pouring himself another drink.

"Adam?" I ask in a low whisper. He turns and smiles. "Go back to bed babe, I'll be up soon." He says. I shake my head walking towards him and taking a seat next to him on the barstool.

He didn't protest as we sat in silence. Only the sound of the ice in his glass moving every time he'd get a drink.

"Remember the night we got drunk on Valentine's Day?" I ask, looking at him. A small smile appeared on his face. "The first night we slept together." He laughs. "How horrible of us." He adds. I shrug.

"We were drunk." I point out. "I remember, we thought you were pregnant." I bite my lip, remembering the clear memory of how scared I was the day I found out I might be pregnant. I thought my world was ending. Now I'm here, with the guy that almost got me pregnant. Married to him actually.

"You know I never told you this before but-" he pauses, a slight smile playing on his lips. "I don't know, apart of me was okay with the thought of being a parent with you then. I knew it was horrible of me to want it back then, but I think I was hoping you were pregnant." I blush, looking down at my hands to hide away my red cheeks from him. "Of course it would've been hard but I think we could've done it." He adds. I smile at him.

"Of course now that I have Boston, I'm not quite sure I'd be able to handle another kid." He laughs as I completely frown.

That just proved my point, Adam didn't want another kid. Why would he need one with me if he already has one?

"Yeah.." I trail off, looking down at my hands. "Let's go to bed." I stand up about to start walking upstairs but I suddenly feel Adams hand go under my leg and within a second I was up in the air, squealing. "Calm down baby." He chuckles out.

He carried my bridal style upstairs. I couldn't help but laugh. "Put me down Adam! I'm heavy!" I hiss. "You weigh nothing." He points out. "Whatever." I roll my eyes.
