Other Things may change us,

but we start & end

with the family.

There was a stony silence between Amrita and Shyam after Vijay's passing remarks.

Shyam grabbed Amrita's arm and took her outside so they were out of earshot of everyone in the garage.

Amrita freed her arm from his grip straight away.

"What the hell are you doing Shyam? Why are you acting crazy like this?"

"You are the crazy one and Hell is what you have created for all the people around you. Why couldn't you wait till I talked to Ajay in the morning? Everything had to happen as per your whims and wishes, and you don't care what the consequences are. All you want is that everyone has to dance around to your tunes." Shyam was finally letting out all the rage and frustration that he kept under control since morning.

"And I had to defend you in front of him. Can't you see how much he hates me? I was his best friend in college and he now thinks I am... I am..." He couldn't go on and bent down his head as he fought to control his emotions.

Amrita controlled her tears as she watched Shyam. But when he finally shifted his gaze to her after sometime, she looked at him with dispassionate eyes.

"There's only one person in the whole world that Ajay hates and that's ME. You don't have to worry Shyam. He is sensible enough to know it wasn't your fault." She choked.

"Whatever I did, I did it for the best. Please cooperate with me just for a little long. You gave me your word Shyam, I beg you now... Please stand by it. Once this whole thing settles down, he will go back to his life and we can go back to our lives. I am really glad that he played along, and pretended in front of that police constable and your brother Vijay, as if we are strangers to him." Amrita sounded relieved.

Shyam nodded his head in agreement. He seemed much calmer now.

"Should we tell Vijay about this though? It would be hard to keep this away from him for long you know." he wondered.

"Let's assume we do tell him. We can be sure that the whole colony and all the garage customers will come to know about this within a day." A small smile danced on Amrita's lips as she shook her head and rolled her eyes.

Just then the housekeeper came and announced to them that dinner is served and they both went inside.

Meanwhile Ajay was in deep thought driving along the city main road. All the shocking things he saw today left him disoriented. He didn't notice the traffic signal turning green at the cross roads till half a dozen cars started honking behind him.

He shook his head in frustration and stopped over to pick up some dinner at his favourite food joint.

As he turned to enter his local colony, he noticed that a car had hit the archway pillar and glass was shattered all around. It was almost 9.30 pm and there were hardly anyone around the area at this time.

He stopped his jeep and rushed to the car.
