Chapter 8

         As promised, Izzy helped Alec going through the procedure. They arrived early at the hospital cause they need to prepare Alec for lots of procedure. He is booked for blood investigation, ultrasound and the worst part for last - the lumbar puncture. The name of the procedure itself already give chills to the one who had it. Those who had the experienced knows how much it hurts. Especially when you don't have a good luck, you will end up being the guinea pig in the lab. Instead of they trying to cured you, they will make you as a target practice. But luckily for Alec, Catarina wont allow that to happen. She knows who got the best hands and the best team to take care of Alec. As much as she hated them for breaking up, she still concerned about Alec. Now that Alec is pregnant making Cat even more worried cause she need to lie in front of Magnus. She knows how much Magnus cares about Alec. She just couldn't understand why Magnus let Alec go after all they have been through. After Alec had his blood taken at the lab he headed to the imaging department for the ultrasound. Izzy was worried about him since he had like four tubes of blood drawn for some reason. She kept on asking him if he needed a wheelchair rather than walking. Even though the radiology department is not far but Alec is not well and she can actually see it through. But Alec being Alec, stubborn as usual and kept pushing himself. Izzy just give him a death glare and he just nudge her arm and smiled. Soon they arrived at the department. The perks of having someone closed working at the hospital, they didn't have to wait that long and they already know he's coming. 

       So soon when he arrived, they brought him to the room and asked him to lie down on the bed. The bed was small but its enough to cover Alec's body. Its cold when it touches his body. Izzy sat besides him the whole time. When Alec got his blood taken, Izzy just couldn't help to stare away. She can't stand of needles and blood but she brave herself for her brother. After that the nurse came and greet them and told them her name was Lisa. She is so kind and understanding. She knows how Omega body works. She asked Alec to lift up the shirt a bit and opened the buttoned of his jeans. Then she squirted some gel on Alec's tummy. Alec couldn't help to winced cause its cold. Then she started to placed the probe on his tummy, giving a light pressed on it so she can see it clearly. "So, shall we see the little pumpkin?" Alec laughed at the word. "more like a peanut maybe." Then he looked back at the monitor. "see that? The little thing blinking. That's the heart. Congratulations sweetie. Its a strong beat I must say." Alec smiled looking at the monitor then he glanced at Izzy, she already had tears in her eyes. She can't help feeling emotional now that she knows Alec carrying a special person in his tummy. "oh wait. That can't be true." Suddenly the nurse said, while holding up her glasses up and down making sure she see it clearly. "what is it?" Alec asked worried. Thinking that maybe he's baby would have some deformity. Not that he wouldn't love it any less but he just wanna make sure everything is okay. "I see two heartbeats." "my baby has two hearts?" Alec shouted. "No! But you have two babies." Her words making Alec and Izzy stunt and both had the same looks on the nurse. Not too mentioned that they already look alike and the expression as well is the same. No doubt that they are siblings. Alec squeezed Izzy's hand tight making Izzy looked at him worried. "Alec, are you okay?" Then she saw Alec started to tear up, she hugged him and hushed him. She knows how much Alec needed his Magnus right now to share this experienced but she's glad she's there with him. Alec covered his tearing eyes with his hand and sobbed in it. Then he wiped out his tears with the tissue the nurse gave him. He couldn't believe he's carrying twins. Rarely an Omega carrying twins and its barely they survived even if they did. That made Alec more worried than ever. Will he able to take care of his baby? Now to mention babies. All he know is he need to figure out what is his plan next. "alright Alec now we saw the babies and we need to get to the real reason you're here okay? We will need to check your organs like liver, kidney and the rest in the abdomen to see any swelling or any sort of abnormality. Don't read anything on my face cause I'm just the technician, I'm not the doctor. I could have been wrong so just wait till the final report to be sure okay?" Alec nodded, he like this nurse very much cause she knows how much Alec worried about that and sometimes people can't control their facial expression. She started at the top of his abdomen. From left to right, front then back for the kidneys. She is so supportive on telling Alec what she's gonna do and what is she actually seeing. Izzy sat there beside him, holding his hand. She noticed how Alec pressed her hand tightly occasionally due to the pain, and whenever he did that she noticed the nurse face changes. As if she noticed something that is not supposed to be there. Especially on the right abdomen. It hurts him the most. Then she noticed how skinny his brother gets. She can actually see the ribs on the side of Alec's body. Despite his tummy is growing, he is getting skinnier. She hopes she could get Alec to eat more. Wasn't it pregnant people should be gaining weight. Why his brother is losing? She couldn't help to worried and she got lost in her thoughts when Alec called her name, she flinched in shocked. "what?" She didn't actually hear Alec was saying something to her. "its over, lets go." Then only she realized the nurse already wiping off the gel from Alec's stomach. Then she turned to removed her gloves and washed her hands. "last but not least." Alec smiled at her making her even more worried. "are you sure you want to do this? We could always rescheduled." Alec shook his head. "No. We need to finished this once and for all." Then she helped him out from the bed and they both went to Day Care centre. There is the place where they will do certain procedure that requires observation after the procedure but no need for hospital staying. When they reached there she was relieved seeing Cat waiting for Alec. She went in and gave her a hug. Cat was even more relieved seeing her than Alec. " I'm glad you told Izzy Alec. I don't want you to get depressed and has no one to talk too." Alec rolled his eyeball upward, "she made me. She is a bit persuasive and you know how she can be." Alec pointed to Izzy causing her to pout and Cat just hug both siblings like she is the mother or big sister. She felt like she is after all they already known each other for years and she is already like a part of the family. Then she showed Alec where the changing room was so he can changed into one of the hospital gown. She actually didn't have to be there but she wanted to so that Alec would feel ease seeing her while they're doing the procedure. Izzy waited at the lounge. She begged Cat to be there with Alec but Cat said no. its bad enough Alec is suffering but letting Izzy seeing him suffer is inhuman. But she promised Izzy she'll be there for him and not to worry. They will let her inside after the procedure was done. They placed Alec on the table and covered him with a blanket. They didn't allow Alec to tied the gown so he has to lie down on the table naked from behind. Cat holds his hand and smiled at him. " You know what are we going to do today but I just need to explained to you so you would understand better okay. The doctor will insert a needle at your spine to take some of your spinal fluid so that he can tested if the cancer spread to your spine or you brain.They will give you some local anesthesia to lessen the pain a bit. I'm not gonna lie that its gonna hurt like a bitch. I'll be here the whole time, you have nothing to worry about. After they're done, you need to rest at least 3 hours before you could go home. Just to make sure you didn't bleed out or any complications occurs." Alec listen to Cat focusing on the main important part. Then he was asked to lie down on his side, knee to chest position. He couldn't do that much cause he afraid to squeeze his babies. He just did what he could. Cat put a monitor on his chest, his arm and his finger. Then she put a nasal cannula on his nostrils. "This will helps with the pain later. I don't want you to be breathless" it tickles Alec's nose when she put it on. Cold air flew into it. He felt better breathing into it but sometimes it irritates his nose making him scratching it. When the doctor came and greeted him, he shook his hand and smiled. The doctor looks like he was in his mid - 50's making Alec more confident in him. Then the doctor explained to him again what Cat just told him. Cat standing in front of Alec holding his body so he wont flinched while the doctor behind him. He felt embarrassed cause he has no underwear on and his bare ass just by the doctor's face. Then he felt the cold sponges rub against his skin. It smells like wet metal. Luckily Cat gave hime some medication to control his vomit otherwise they will have to stop halfway to let him puke. Then the doctor started to give couple of injections around his skin. He winced in pain. He closed his eyes and held on Cat's hand tight. He could feel how the doctor gave the injection surrounded the area he wants to poke later. Then he tested Alec's skin, whether or not he feels anything. Alec didn't feel anything except numb. The he started to poke Alec's lower back. It was so painful Alec groan in pain. "Argghhh.. Cat!" Cat just rubbed his hair and hushed him. "Shhh, Alec your doing great, just breathe." Alec did what he was told. He breathe in and out. Tears started to forming in his eyes and in a blink, it all falls down. He cried in pain and hold Cat's hand close to his neck. He cried out in pain making Cat felt pity on him. Then it hits her heart like a pang. " I want Magnus Cat! I need him! Please... I want him here. I cant do this by my own." He cried. Cat never see Alec so weak and desperate for Magnus like this. She couldn't say anything. She just shush him and keep on rubbing his head. Soon when the doctor done collecting all the sample, Alec already passed out. Fall asleep after he cried. They brought him to the recovery room and let him being observed there. Izzy went in a moment later. She sat by his side and held his hand. She couldn't stop her tears looking at his brother like this. An hour later, Alec woke up. They finished giving him the fluids and removed the needle for his discharged. Cat came after giving Alec the appointment slip. "your appointment is in 2 weeks. We will see each other after that to review the results. But if you have any problems please come to me. Don't hide to yourself okay Alec?" Alec was too weak to answer and he just nodded. Izzy got him sit on the wheelchair and pushed him out from the recovery room. She thanked Cat and the Cat whispered something in her ear. " take good care of him, he needed you more than you know it." Izzy nodded and then she pushed Alec out from the hospital to their car. She helped him to the car and then she drove home. The whole time they in the car, Izzy kept on checking on Alec. He falls asleep again. Soon they arrived and Alec got out of the car and head to the door. Luckily Izzy was there to covers for him. She let Alec sneaked in without noticing by their mum. Then she went upstairs and helped Alec changed. She gasped when she saw Alec's back. It started to bruise on the area of the procedure being held. She was so worried she almost called Cat but Alec reassured her and told her that's the side effect of the procedure. Then he get under the covers after putting on new clothes. He fell asleep soon after. During dinner time, maryse asked Izzy why Alec didn't come down to eat but Izzy told her he has some archery practice earlier and he is super tired to come down. Robert sighed at the excuses and again he mentioned how Alec should gave that up since its stupid. Izzy was mad when she heard it but at least they stopped asking about him. After dinner Izzy went upstairs to check on Alec, still sleeping. Then she went to her room. She grabbed her phone and dialed a number. "Hello? Isabel? Is everything okay?" It was Magnus. "we need to talk. Tomorrow?" Magnus was quiet on the other line, no answer. Sorry Izz, I loved too but I'm busy at the moment and I'll get back to you is that okay?" Izzy sighed, "don't bother Magnus! Goodnight" then she slammed her phone away. Grunting in frustration. She can't believe Magnus just denies her invitation. She got so upset she just went to sleep. Thinking on how to help his brother making her tired and frustrated. But eventually she falls asleep.
