Chapter 22

A month plus passed, Alec and Magnus couldn't be anymore happier. Magnus has been with Alec through every appointment. Alec has his good days and bad days. Sometimes the bad days got so bad Magnus had to stay in his office just to let Alec cool down a bit. By the time he get back to his loft Alec will be on bed crying himself to sleep. Alec is now 22 weeks pregnant and they just get back from their OB appointment. The doctor scanned Alec and gave them their babies ultrasound photo. Magnus couldn't stop looking at it. He even put in on their fridge. Alec sat on the couch rubbing his temple ignoring Magnus at kitchen talking to himself. Magnus then came to him on the couch with a glass of water and Alec's multivitamin. "Alexander, is everything okay?" Alec looked up and smiled at him. His smile might not be as sincere but he tried. He's face is weak and pale, he looks like he hasn't sleep for days. But Alec spend most of the time sleeping without doing anything active. He always got tired very easily. "Don't think I let you forget this, here." Magnus knows Alec deliberately forgotting to take his medication today. Magnus being very particular about Alec's health and wish he would be more to it than he is. "I don't like taking this tablet, its too big and hard to swallow." Alec making pouting face to Magnus hoping he would allow him skip the day. "It's either this or blood transfusion. Take a pick. This will help to raise your blood Alec. Please do this for me." Magnus knows how to play with Alec's mood better now rather than before in early of his pregnancy. He couldn't help but notice how Alec's changed. He became more quiet, more tired and he spends more time in the loft refusing to go out. "I have an idea to cheer you up." Alec looked at him with tired face hearing his idea. "I'm thinking on having Madzie around for few days here in the loft. Having the small toddler running around the apartment would help boosting up your boost." Alec looked at him with a smiled, "I love that. I miss her around. Are you sure Catarina is okay with that?" Magnus nodded and grabbed his phone calling Catarina. He spoke to Cat and told her the idea. It took her a while to be convinced but Magnus told her this would cheered up Alec since past few days he's a bit downer. When he put his phone down Alec couldn't help looking at Magnus with puppy eyes, waiting for answer. "She said no isn't she?" Alec was about to turn around but Magnus grabbed him back, "She said yes only if we promised not to feed her with much sugar." Alec smiled and suddenly his mood is lightened up and his face smiling is like sunshine after a rainy days. Magnus miss this side of Alec so much and he would do anything to keep that smile on his face.

Today is the day Madzie will come and stay with them. Alec and Magnus had baby proof the loft hoping Madzie will not fall or get hurt. Truthfully they had baby proof the apartment for a while and they are changing the guest room into a nursery but its a working progress. Alec and Magnus was preparing cookies in order for Madzie arrival. Alec was sorting the cookies on a tray while Magnus cleaning the table. He couldn't help seeing Alec so excited. He came up from behind Alec and put his hand on his stomach. Alec tilted his head leaning it on Magnus shoulder. Magnus rubbed his tummy softly and swaying their body together. Alec loves how Magnus know how to calm him down. Then Alec turned around, holding Magnus closer to him. They leaned their forehead together and breathes in deeply. Alecs bulging tummy pressing against Magnus'. Magnus rubbed it softly on the side and kissed Alec on his lips. They were so lost in their kiss when suddenly Alec's tummy kicked making Magnus jumped. "I think they don't like me kissing you." Magnus smiled in his kisses. Alec couldn't help to chuckled. "I think they are excited too. They wouldn't stop moving for whole day." Alec said while rubbing his tummy. Magnus got on his knees moving his head same level as Alec's tummy. "Guys behave, you're making papa uncomfortable." Alec loves how Magnus always talking to the twins like they were actually in his arms. But the most exciting part was they listen to Magnus more than him. Magnus kissed Alec's tummy and making him moan. Suddenly there's a knocked on the door. "They're here!" Alec shout and let go of Magnus arm and literally sprint to the door. He left Magnus kneeling by himself in the kitchen. "Alec slow down." Magnus catches up with him and they both standing in front of the door. They opened it and there's Cat with a small girl by her side holding each others hand. "Hye sweet pea!" Magnus kneeled and Madzie gave him a hug. Then she turned to Alec and hugged him leaning her cheek on his tummy. Alec wished he could bend down to hugged her but he would have difficulty to get back up. So he leaned down and kissed Madzie on her head and smiled. Cat loves the picture and wish she doesn't have to work. "Here's her stuff and Magnus don't take your eyes off of them." Magnus smiled hearing her words. "I think I can manage handling a 5 years old Cat. She's a princess." Cat smiled and shake her head. "I meant him." She pointed at Alec making Alec crooked his eyebrow looking at her. "What? Why me?" Magnus was shocked as well. "Alec she's a handful and I meant it. Don't force yourself and I don't want to see you in my ER." Magnus smiled and raised one of his eyebrow while looking at Alec agreeing to what she said. Alec surrendered to them and nodded agreeing. Then Madzie pulled Alec's hand to the living room asking him to play. "See. Be careful Magnus. This is the delicate time for Alec. He will get tired and easily to fall since his tummy is growing." Magnus nodded understand the situation. He gave Cat a hug before she leaves. He closed the door behind him and put Madzie's stuff in their other guest room. He went back to the living room and found Alec and Madzie on the couch drawing together. Alec draw few animals and let Madzie colored it. He and Madzie was talking to each other and Magnus decided to bring the cookies to their living room with glasses of milk. He came to the couch and sat next to Alec with Madzie on his lap. "You know who is the best artist Madz?" Madzie look back to Alec listen to him. "Your aunt Clary. The red head really does knows how to draw. You would love her." Alec said while grabbing Madzie's hair and combed it out from her ear. "She and Max used to spend their time together like this. She will draw and Max will colored it. He loves to use more blue in everything cause he knows how much I love blue. Even the flowers are blue." He smiled and Madzie also smiled hearing blue flower. Magnus stared at Alec and he noticed how his eyes became teary. Alec holds back his tears and smiled at Madzie. "I miss Max so much." He sobbed and couldn't hold back his tears. Madzie looked at him and put her hands around his neck and hugged him. Magnus loves this view so much he took a photo of it silently. Alec felt embarrassed hugging a 5 years old crying. Madzie let go of Alec and kissed him on his cheek. "Better?" She said while tilting her head to the side showing her cuteness. Alec nodded, then she continued back her coloring. They both spend a day playing, eating and enjoying each others company. Magnus ordered food and turns out Madzie and Alec loves pizza so much. They ate and Alec notice Madzie rubbing her eyes after dinner and yawn. He smiled looking at him and he picks her up and bring her to the room. He lay her down and covered her body with blankets on. They were all exhausted and Magnus can see how Alec is also tired. "Come on, lets get you guys to bed." He said and pulled Alec to their bedroom. Alec get under the bed and Magnus covered him with blankets. Alec couldn't lie on his back nowadays he will feel difficult to breath. He always lied on his side and mostly on Magnus. But it never bothers Magnus that much and he loves hugging Alec to sleep. He kissed Alec on his forehead smelling his hair and he loves Alec's hair smell. Not long after that they both drifted off to sleep.
