*Y/n's POV*

"Y/n, can we do something?" Shawn whined. He was sitting on the bed next to me in our room.

"I have to work on this for my class. It's important," I told him, continuing to type on my phone. My laptop was broken, so I had to work on that instead.

"But you've been working all day," Shawn complained.

I teased him, "Is Shawny not getting enough attention?"

"No."

I smiled and kept working on my assignment. "I have an idea," he smirked and grabbed my phone out of my hands.

"Wait, give it back," I chuckled.

"You have to catch me first," Shawn laughed, running out of the room. I grinned, shaking my head, before running after him.

He ran downstairs only a little bit ahead of me. "Come and get it," Shawn joked, waving my phone back and forth.

I quickly started to run down the stairs as he ran away again. But, halfway down, I tripped on one of the steps and started to fall. At the last step, I landed hard on my right leg and I heard a slight snap before I felt a stab of pain. "Ahh!" I cried out, sitting up. My right leg hurt terribly. It was some of the worst pain I had ever felt. "Shawn!" I cried again, tears starting to form in my eyes.

"Y/n?" Shawn came around the corner, his eyes going wide when he saw me, "What happened, baby?" He quickly came over and kneeled on the floor beside me.

"I tripped and fell. My leg hurts so badly!" I said, holding my ankle.

Shawn comforted me, "It's okay, it's okay. Can you stand on it?"

"I don't know," I replied, "Let's see. Can you help me up?" He nodded and put out his arms which I held on to. He slowly pulled me up and I stood on one leg, still using him for balance. I cautiously tried to put my other foot down, but as soon as I put weight on it, worse pain shot up my leg. "Oww!" I shouted and leaned onto Shawn more, "I can't stand."

He looked down at me in his arms worriedly, "I'm taking you to a doctor." I didn't have any time to disagree even if I wanted to. Before I knew it, Shawn had picked me up and was carefully carrying me outside to his jeep.

He set me down in the seat as gently as he could. "Stay here. I just need to lock the front door and grab something," he told me.

"Okay," I said before he ran back towards the house.

In less than a minute, Shawn was back, climbing in the driver's seat. He was breathing heavily like he had run as fast as he could. "Here," Shawn handed me his lion stuffed animal, Leo, "He'll make you feel better."

A small smile appeared on my face at how cute he was acting, "Thank you, Shawn." As the car started moving, however, I was brought back to the pain I had been feeling. When we hit a bump, I gasped and grimaced.

"Sorry babygirl," Shawn cooed, reaching over for my hand and planting a kiss on it, "I'll try to be more careful." We kept driving until we got to the hospital.

Later, I was sitting on a hospital bed with my injured leg in a cast. It turns out that I had fractured my lower leg pretty badly. Shawn had to wait in another room while I was getting the cast put on and I knew that he would worry about me.

My doctor walked into the room carrying crutches. "I'm back," she said, "Your cast should be dry, so it's fine for you to meet back up with your boyfriend now." She held out the crutches, "You'll probably need these to walk."

I nodded and took them from her, slowly standing up. On one leg of course. My doctor opened the door and I started to follow her back to where Shawn was. It took me a little bit to get the hang of walking with the crutches, but I eventually got pretty good at it.

When we got back to the other room, I made my way through the doorway and Shawn immediately stood up and came over to me. "Are you okay?" he questioned, "It didn't hurt too much, did it?"

"I'm fine, Shawn. Don't worry," I told with a smile.

"Good," he sighed in relief and hugged me quickly.

I turned around to face my doctor and asked, "Am I okay to go home now?"

"Yes, of course," she said, "You can take some medication for pain, but you shouldn't need it for a while since we already gave you some. Just make sure you rest it and try not to use stairs too much."

I let out a small laugh, "That would be good, considering that stairs were the cause of all this."

My doctor smiled, "I'll take you back to the front room so you two can enjoy your night."

When we went out the door of the hospital, I realized that the sun had almost set all the way and it would be dark soon. Time really flew by.

It wasn't that far of a walk back to the car, but Shawn insisted that he could pull his jeep right up to the curb so I wouldn't have to walk. We quickly got some food for dinner before getting back home.

"Careful," Shawn fretted as he helped me out of the car.

"I got it," I said confidently. As we walked side by side up to the front door I could tell that Shawn was making sure he didn't walk any faster than I did. It was sweet.

"I'm so tired," I told once we were inside, "I think I'm just gonna sleep down here on the couch. I probably shouldn't go up the stairs."

"Okay," Shawn said, sitting on the couch next to me, "I'm so sorry that I made you get hurt. I can't believe I made you break your leg."

"What are you talking about?"

"If I hadn't caused you to run down the stairs, you wouldn't be hurt right now," he continued, "And I hate seeing you hurt."

"Shawn, it's not your fault," I reassured him, "You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just super clumsy." He smiled and I leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Well, I'm going to try and fall asleep now," I lied down under a blanket, "Goodnight, babe."

"Goodnight," he replied before leaving the room.

I closed my eyes, and in after a few minutes was about to fall asleep, when I heard Shawn come back. He stood in front of me, spreading out a blanket on the floor with a pillow in his arms.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

He grinned, "Did you really think I was going to sleep up there without you?"

I laughed, "I guess not."

He soon laid down on the floor next to me. I eventually fell asleep with Shawn gently holding my hand and playing with my fingers.
