*Y/n’s POV*

Since Shawn had left to go shopping for some things we needed, I decided to clean the house a little. It was a Sunday which meant I didn’t have to work and it was usually the day that Shawn and I got the things we were doing done.

I was sweeping the tile floor of the kitchen when I started to feel my heart beating faster. It felt like it would pound out of my chest like it does when you’re nervous or terrified. But this was completely out of the blue. My breathing started to get more shallow as I dropped the broom on the floor. What is going on? I thought, What’s happening?

I walked quickly to the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror. My vision seemed like it was going a little blurry. I didn’t know what was happening to me and I started to get scared, which didn’t help the situation at all. I’m going to die, my mind kept repeating, There’s nobody to help me and I’m dying!

Stumbling over myself, I fell to the floor and leaned against the wall, covering my face with my hands. It
felt like the walls were caving in around me, feeling like the room was getting smaller and smaller until I
would be trapped. I could barely breathe. How did it get so bad so fast?

“Somebody help me,” I shakily whispered to no one.

*Shawn’s POV*

I walked in through the front door, expecting Y/n to run up and give me a hug or something like that, but I didn’t see her. Guessing that she must be upstairs, I carried the bags of groceries I had from shopping to the kitchen and placed them on the counter.

“Y/n, I’m back,” I called. But there was still no response. That was when I began to worry. I dropped my
keys on the counter as well and headed out of the kitchen. “Y/n, where are you?” I looked around the house until I saw that the bathroom light was on. And I heard a faint whimper.

Hurrying, turned the corner of the bathroom doorway. “Y/n?” I asked. But, I gasped when I saw her sitting
curled up on the floor with her arms around her knees, rocking back and forth slightly. “Oh my god, baby,” I said, coming over to her quickly, “Are you okay?”

She was breathing heavily. “Help me,” she kept repeating, “Somebody help me.”

“Hey, I’m right here,” I cooed, holding her face with my hands on her cheeks, “I’m right here, Y/n. It’s okay.” My mind was trying to figure out what was wrong with her and it suddenly hit me that she must have been having a panic attack. The good thing was it seemed like it might be almost over.

“Sh-Shawn,” Y/n breathed.

I sat down next to her and wrapped my arms around her body, trying to stop the shaking. “Deep breaths,” I whispered, “It’s almost over. It will all be better soon, I promise.” I was scared for her, but I couldn’t show
it. I just sat there holding Y/n like my life depended on it. And it sort of did. She was my world after all.

After a few minutes of staying like that and humming songs in her ear, I finally could feel Y/n’s breathing slow. Her arms tightened around me and she dug her head into my chest. “It’s okay. Everything’s okay,” I hummed, “Are you feeling better?”

I felt her nod, “What happened?” Her voice was so quiet and she sounded so broken. I just wanted to fix everything.

“I think you had a panic attack,” I told, “But don’t worry. It’s gone for now.”

“It doesn’t make any sense,” Y/n cried. I hadn’t noticed her tears before then.

“What doesn’t make any sense?”

“The fact that there was no warning,” she spoke, “I wasn’t even anxious or nervous or anything.”

“Darling, sometimes panic attacks just happen randomly,” I said, stroking her hair, “You can’t always tell
when or why they happen.”

Y/n was quiet for a couple seconds and hugged me a little tighter. “What if it happens again sometime today?” she stressed, “Or tonight while I’m sleeping. I don’t want to go through that again.” She sounded like she would start crying again soon.

“Shhh, it’s okay, Y/n,” I comforted, “How about I stay with you for the rest of the day in case it happens again?”

“Really?” Y/n asked.

“Absolutely,” I said, “I won’t leave your side, even tonight when we go to bed. I’ll stay awake with you as long as you need.”

“Thank you so much, Shawn,” Y/n breathed.

“You’re welcome. I love you so much,” I whispered before leaning down and kissing her head.
