How We Met (Requested)

*Y/n's POV*

That night, Shawn and I had an interview on Jimmy Fallon together.

I had been on before, but only to sing one of my songs, not for an interview. And it was the first time Shawn and I would be on the show after announcing that we were a couple. I was a little nervous as always even though I knew that it would most likely be completely fine.

"One minute 'till you're on," one of the stage people told us.

Shawn fixed the sleeve of his jacket and stepped over to me. "Here we go," he smiled. We left our dressing rooms and stood behind the curtain of the stage.

"Both amazingly accomplished in the music industry without even being twenty years old yet, please welcome Shawn Mendes and Y/n Y/l/n!" Jimmy introduced us.

Shawn gave my hand a little squeeze as we walked on. The crowd clapped and cheered. It wasn't very often when two people were interviewed together. After Shawn lead me up the couple of stairs on the stage, we sat down next to each other on the couch. I put on a big smile and waved to the crowd.

When the audience quieted, Jimmy spoke up, "It is great to see you two."

"It's great to see you too," Shawn said and I nodded.

"It's been a while since I've seen either of you," Jimmy spoke, leaning forward on his desk a little, "And I lot had happened since I've seen you last. You made your relationship public a few months ago. How is that going?"

"It's really going great," I put in.

"Yeah," Shawn agreed, "We are really fortunate to have such supportive fans. They've been great."

"Everything is pretty much perfect," I continued, "I couldn't have asked for our announcement to go any better." I looked over to Shawn with a small smile. He looked great, his jawline shown clearly because of the lights, and it must have been a little obvious that I was admiring him.

"I'm guessing that things between you two with your relationship is really good too," Jimmy added.

"Yeah, absolutely," Shawn said, looking at me, "Y/n's amazing. She really is perfect in every way and I love her so much."

"You see, he doesn't realize that he is all those things too," I chuckled, pointing to Shawn.

"So, do you guys have like an actual story of how you met, or did you just meet each other?" Jimmy asked.

"Well, it's actually a pretty funny story," Shawn began. I decided to let him say it since he always told it better.

"So, one night, I was in Toronto at someone else's concert and I knew that there was other famous people there in the crowd," Shawn explained, "And one of them was Y/n. In the middle of the concert, I saw her not too far away from me and I decided that I could go over and try to meet her. We hadn't met before, even though we had gone to the same award shows and stuff a couple times. So I went over to her and thinking that she would probably recognize me, I tried to tap her shoulder to get her attention." I couldn't help but start laughing at the memory of what he was going to say next.

Shawn was laughing a little too, "Then all of a sudden this huge guy, who was one of Y/n's security guards, grabs me and holds my arms behind my back. And I was seriously kind of scared. Finally, Y/n turns around because she hears all the commotion and I remember just staring up at her. The guy was still holding me really tight and I looked up with her just like pleading for help."

"Really?" Jimmy laughed.

"Yeah!" Shawn expressed, "Then Y/n eventually realizes that it is me and tells the guy to let go of me. I was so relieved."

"I was just like 'Wait, that's Shawn Mendes, get off of him'," I broke in, "It was kind of funny, but I felt bad. He looked so scared." We were all laughing a bit at that point.

"And you knew you had to pay it back to him somehow, so you decided to date him?" Jimmy joked.

"No, no," I shook my head and held Shawn's upper arm, "I got to know him after all that happened and after the concert and realized how sweet he was. And we eventually started going on dates." Shawn smiled down at me, placing his hand on my knee.

"Well, you two definitely seem like the perfect couple with the perfect story of how you met," Jimmy told.

"Yep," Shawn said, "I did get roughed up by a security guard, but I now have this beautiful girl by my side because of it."
