Festival Jitters

"Are you okay, hun?" I asked Shawn. I was lying on the hotel bed and looking up at him. He had been kind of quiet like there was something on his mind that was bothering him.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he replied, "Just tired from all the traveling. I think my voice is tired too, which isn't very good." Shawn was supposed to be performing at a festival that night in the city we were in. It was going to be in front of at least 80,000 people which was a huge show. I was glad that I had decided to come with him for that part of his festival run because I was pretty sure he would need me to be there supporting him.

"I'm sure you'll kill it no matter what," I told, sitting up and moving closer to him, "You always do." Shawn was already sitting up so I placed my hands on his shoulders and started to massage his back muscles gently. 

"That feels nice," he commented, "Thank you."

"No problem, love," I smiled, "You just have to remember that I'll be there in the crowd watching you. And it's all for fun anyways. You'll do great."

In a couple of hours, it was time to leave the hotel and drive to where the festival was being held. When we got there, it wasn't time for Shawn to perform yet. We had planned on watching the performances before his, so we both found our seats. Shawn rested his hand on my knee and I put my hand on top of his as the lights dimmed for the first performance.

One of the performers was Alessia Cara (my queen, i love her sm) and I watched her excitedly. I always loved seeing her perform and she hit all the notes almost perfectly.

But then I looked over at Shawn and saw how nervous he looked. I knew he must have been worried about how he would do when it was his turn to go on stage. He looked up at me as I intertwined my fingers with his and I gave him a reassuring smile.

Throughout the next performances, I tried to calm Shawn's nerves as much as I could. He kept looking at his watch over and over until he told me that it was time for him to go backstage and get ready.

"Hey," I placed my hand on his forearm, "You got this. You're going to do amazing Shawn, I know it."

I kissed his cheek and he gave me a weak smile, "Thank you, I'll try to do my best." Shawn stood up and carefully stepped in between people to get to an open walkway. I watched him walk away until I couldn't see him anymore.

As I was waiting for Shawn to come on stage, I got asked by a few people around me for a selfie. They most likely knew that I was dating Shawn. I didn't mind at all so I said yes. I was mostly used to the attention.

In a few minutes, one person walked off the stage and Shawn walked right on with his guitar. I stood up and cheered loudly as he started singing There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back. Shawn really did do amazing with his set. The crowd was into it and he looked so happy on stage. Eventually, it was time for Shawn's last song for the night, Fallin' All In You. I loved the song so much since most of it was written about our relationship.

"Every time I see you baby I get lost. If I'm dreaming, baby, please don't wake me up. Every night I'm with you I fall more in love. Now I'm laying by your side, everything feels right since you came along..." Shawn sang beautifully up through the bridge, before surprisingly, he stepped back from the mic and handed his guitar to someone who took it offstage. When he came back up to the mic, Shawn spoke, "Can I please have my wonderful girlfriend Y/n come up to the stage now?"

My jaw dropped. I had no idea what he was planning. I looked over to my left and there was a security guard waving for me to come with him. I mouthed a Me? and he nodded. I stepped forward and followed him as he helped me onto the stage. The audience cheered as I shyly waved and walked over to Shawn.

"Hi babe," he grinned, speaking into the mic that was in his hand, "I wanted to bring you up here because I love you so much and singing this song was reminding me of how much I love you and..." He took a second to wipe a tear from his eye.

Aww, I thought, He's really crying? I didn't know what was going on, but it had to be special if Shawn was crying.

He continued, looking in my eyes, "You've done so much for me and you've always been by my side. Sometimes I even worry that I'm not doing enough for you because of how well you treat me, but hopefully if you say yes, I can work my hardest to give it all back to you." Shawn put the microphone back on the stand, reached into his back pocket, and slowly got down on one knee. The whole crowd awed and clapped.

My mouth hung open and I covered it with my hand so I didn't look like an idiot in front of so many people.

Shawn looked up at me, opening the small box, and spoke only to me, "Y/n Y/l/n, will you marry me?"

I nodded quickly, "Yes, Shawn! Of course yes!" Shawn stood and I ran into his arms. I almost forgot that we were in front of thousands of people.

"I thought you were nervous about your performance," I beamed as Shawn put the ring on my finger.

"No, I wasn't," he grinned, "But I promise it wasn't an act. I was so worried you would say no."

"I would never in a million years say no."

This was just a random idea, but today is kinda special for me.

A year ago today was the day when I put up my first imagine on this book and that's honestly so crazy. Really the first imagine I posted I'm pretty sure I thought it sucked (which I know it's not the best) but people actually liked it which was a total surprise to me. I think my writing has really improved since then and I love that a lot. I never thought then that I would get even 1,000 reads and I definitely never would have even dreamed that I would have close to 200k rn...I still don't know how that happened. So thank all of you for giving my writing a chance and reading this book. Really, thank you with all my heart❤❤

I might be a little inactive on here for the next couple weeks because I am going on vacation, but I will update at least once or twice. And I also might start editing some of the older chapters on this book or work on a new Shawn fanfiction that's coming soon:))
