Twenty Eight

Her POV

"Ja-Jane?" Daniel stuttered.

Wait.

"You guys know each other?" I asked.

"Uhm ahh. Ano friend ko siya noon pa, bes." Jane had a hard time letting her words out.

"Jane! Shit! It really is you. How is Natasha? Where is she? God!" Daniel quick fired.

"Daniel, magkaano-ano kayo ni Kathryn?" Jane asked nervously.

"He's the father of my child bes. Why?" I answered. Jane's face was filled with shock.

"W-wal-la. Sige aalis na a-ako." Jane was fumbling, trying to get away.

She's acting weird. Wait, she left just like that? After almost a year of not seeing each other? What the hell?

What's wrong with her?

Daniel was caught off guard when I tapped him on the shoulder.

"Magkakilala kayo ng best friend ko?" I asked.

"She's your best friend?!" Daniel almost yelled, shocked.

"U-huh. Why, may problema ba dun, baby?" I asked.

"Is it possible that you know Natasha Chandria?" Daniel asked, he averted his gaze.

"Sorry, but I don't know who she is. Sino ba siya?" I asked, a little annoyed already.

Cause honestly he's acting weird, like he's hiding something. Another scheme? Hopefully not.

"Ah- wala just someone I knew from the past." He answered.

"Tara na, baby?" He asked, I nodded as a response.

I just nodded even though, my mind started to bug me again.

Sometimes, the truth would just hurt, blindly nodding would probably be the best move. I don't think I can handle the truth.

We went to a restaurant to meet his friends. He says he wants to brag about our blessing.

When we arrived, everyone was already seated.

Lester-Julia-Janella-Seth, sat in that order then it was me, Daniel, his friend Katsumi.

"So why are we all gathered here ba?" Janella asked.

"Bestie don't be mean nga!" Julia warned her.

"Shh, tahimik nga pwede?!" Katsumi yelled.

"Wag mo silang sigawan brad." Seth said calmly.

"Guys guys calm the fuck down!" Daniel shouted.

Ofcourse they all listened, it was Daniel.

I think he can convince anyone, this guy.

"So what's this all about ba?" Lester asked, clearly annoyed.

"Oo nga, tol. Bakit ba?" Seth asked.

Such bad liars. They already knew what it was about.

"I'm going to be a father." He announced whil everyone was speakinf again.

They all fell silent, before bursting in laughter.

"That's the biggest joke ever!" Lester chided.

"April fool's day ba?" Janella asked.

"That's hilarious, DJ." Julia said sarcastically. But the rest were just staring at the three of them.

"Somethings are hard to believe but those things are the most important ones." Seth said outta nowhere, silencing everyone.

"So totoo nga?" Lester asked, dead serious.

"Oo tol. 2 months nang buntis si Kath." Daniel asked calmly.

"Congrats." Coldly, Lester said.

"Lester, can we talk outside?" Daniel asked as Lester nodded.

His POV

We both stood up and walked outside.

"So what's up?" Lester asked.

I inhaled deeply before speaking, "I just wanted you to know that I'm sorry if nasasaktan kang akin siya ngayon.”

"Its okay, dude. Alam mo narealize ko din okay lang na hindi siya sakin. Kahit masakit. Kahit nakakapatay. Basta masaya siya. Ganun naman yun pre pag nagmamahal makita lang masaya ang minamahal nila okay na sakanila." He answered while staring at nothing in particular. He continued, "Alam mo brad ang swerte mo eh. Kasi masaya siya sayo. Kasi ikaw ang gusto nya. Shit I would give anything just to be in your place right now. Mahal na mahal ko siya kahit ang sakit sakit na.Basta pre alagaan mo siya ah.” He let out a deep sigh and continued once more, tears already threatening to fall, he sucked it back in as much as he could, “Shit, ang arte ko na umiiyak na ako. Pero minsan kasi iyak nalang talaga ang magagawa mo. Kasi wala na eh. Wala ka ng magagawa. Hindi na pwede eh. Ayaw nya sakin eh. Impossible na. Alam mo yun brad? Kahit ang bading pakinggan. Kahit walang nakakaintindi putangina nagmahal lang naman ako eh.” He wiped the tears off his cheeks, tears that betrayed him.

I wanted to laugh at him, but I knew too well how this felt. I lost someone I loved too, I felt his pain.

"Brad salamat. Salamat kasi pinasaya mo siya. Salamat kasi andyan ka para sakanya. Sana wag mo siya saktan. Kasi brad babae yan eh. At ang babae ang lambot lambot ng puso kaya madaling mahulog pero madali din masira.” He added before heading back in.

I didn't even get the chance to thank him, I wasn't ready to go back in too.

I saw Jand.

Jane, Kathryn's best friend.

Natasha's best friend.

How is this world too damn playful? I stared at the stars above me in the parking lot.

JC, tol. Is she there? I know I shouldn't be thinking about her because I'm already with the woman carrying my child. But, tol alam mo naman kung anong meron kami diba?
