Your POV

I smiled at Momoko and stepped out of the hallway, into the light. A cheer erupted from the crowds and I couldn't help but smile and wave at the flashing lights and millions of fans.

I took a deep breath and faced my opponent. Long, spiky black hair trailed down his green outfit. His bright, small, fierce green eyes pierced his pale skin, and two puppets adorned his hands. Ken Midori. I then looked directly into his eyes. I could tell he was determined to win this, but at the same time was slightly nervous. I grinned. I was going to win this.

I took my usual stance, holding off the Soaring Boost for now. He slipped the puppets off his hands, and got ready for the battle.

'Ready? Set!'

'3 2 1!'

At the last second he switched it up, leaning more down for a Chain Launch. I swiftly tilted my launcher up, but he didn't notice.

'Let it rip!'

Xcalius zoomed circles around the stadium, not hitting Kerbeus. Ken's jaw dropped open, shocked and stunned. I grinned. My plan had worked. By shooting Xcalius along the outer rim and not aiming it towards Kerbeus, Kerbeus couldn't use Chain Launch as offence or defense. It hit nothing aimlessly, and soon enough it stopped.

'Survivor finish for Xcalius! One point to (y/n) (l/n)!'

I stood up, gazing across the roaring crowds. All I need now is a burst finish, and I'm done. A sudden movement jolted my eyes back towards my opponent, who had ditched his usual stance. My eyes widened in a mixture of disbelief and shock at the position. The stance was high, way higher than it was supposed to be. I narrowed my eyes, calculating the new stance's weakness.

'Second battle!' the referee announced. 'Ready? Set!'

'3 2 1! Let it rip!'

I shot Xcalius against the outer rim, giving it a point to attack from where it was best. But Kerbeus was different. It bounced high, pouncing on Xcalius again and again from high up. But Ken was different from last round. All the nervousness appeared.

'Kerbeus!' Ken shouted. A bright green aura formed around his body, and Kerbeus erupted in flames. 'Demolish it now!'

Kerbeus jumped up high in the sky for one last, strong attempt, raining down on Xcalius, knocking it out of the stadium. I stared, wide-eyed at the result of what had happened. I hid my shock.

'One point to Kerbeus for ring-out finish! One-all!'

The crowds clapped and cheered at this sudden outcome. I frowned. I didn't think I would have to use this move....

'Let's go Ken! Let's go Ken! Let's go Ken!'

I glanced up, only to see the whole stadium cheering for Ken, the Beasts being the loudest. Beigoma Bey Club was also cheering for Ken. Part of me felt betrayed, but I buried that feeling. I couldn't help but understand why Beigoma cheered for Ken. Ken was their friend as well. As my eyes roamed the crowds, it somehow averted towards Shu.

I gazed into the clear ruby eyes, and a message passed between us. I'm going to do it....

Go for it (y/n).

I smiled and turned back to Ken. He was smiling and waving to the crowd, tears leaking out of his eyes, overwhelmed and happy. I frowned. That was his first mistake. He had let himself be distracted by the crowd's support. I looked down at Xcalius. We were going to crush Ken.

'Third battle!'

I kneeled down, lifting one knee higher than the other, readying for Soaring Boost. Fear started to shine in his eyes as he realized what I was going to do.

'Ready? Set!'

'3 2 1!'

I leapt up high in the air, my legs going up as my launching arm yanked the string behind my ear.

'Let it rip!'

I landed down, hands slamming down onto the stadium floor. I looked into the stadium, and saw with happiness, that Soaring Boost had worked. Xcalius was jumping higher than Kerbeus. I decided to waste no time and end it right here. right now.

'This is it Xcalius!' I yelled. The familiar feeling of red flams surround me returned, I charged alongside Xcalius. 'Suspend Launch!'

'Kerbeus!' shouted Ken. 'Here we go! Chain Launch!'

Both beys locked in  a collision course, colliding together with immense power and strength. Kerbeus was sent flying. I smirked. It was over. Burst.

The three pieces of Kerbeus landed on the ground near Ken's feet. Ken looked down in utter shock, words failing to be heard.

'Two points to Xcalius with a burst finish! With three to one, (y/n) (l/n) moves onto the quarter finals!'

Drip.

Tears escaped out of the corner of Ken's eyes, landing on the floor, leaving a stain. Disappointment and disbelief shone in his eyes, and for a second I felt sorry for him.

'N-No,' he stuttered, in shock. His fist clenched. 'NO!!!!!'

His cries and screams and sobs echoed throughout the arena. I bit my lip in sympathy and left the stadium, not wanting to rub salt in his wounds.

'So, (y/n), what happened before the match?'

It was a beautiful sunset, colours dappling the sky and the sea, casting long shadows against the soft sand on the beach. A wind blew through the atmosphere, leaving trees and leaves dancing in the breeze. I turned around and looked to the boy who had spoke. The boy who had changed my life. The boy who hade made my nervous, cry, in danger, and laugh. I was glad all those things had happened. I needed the boy. Shu Kurenai.

'Mei happened,' I explained. 'But don't worry. I've got her sorted. I'm going to win the tournament.'

He laughed lightly. '(y/n), I wouldn't be so sure about that. Valt and I....we made a pact. To meet each other in the finals.'

'I know,' I said simply, gazing into his eyes. 'Just warning you. Eventually, we're going to have to face off. So don't hold back on me, ok?'

'Why would I hold back?' Shu smiled. 'I'm coming at you, full force.'

'Promise?'

'Promise.'

I leant in and sealed the deal with a long kiss.
