Chapter 9

Piper's pov:

After I left Ace to talk to her mate I ran outside to see our pack members stripping and shifting into wolf form

I smiled, ah I love our pack

I quickly changed, not minding the nudity, and shifted into my wolf. My senses became heightened and I felt at ease

My wolf was yipping in my head, she enjoyed being in her natural form as do I

I noticed Ross helping Michael with the pups, both picking them up by the scruff and running them back to their mothers

I chuckled before running to the front of the pack

Soon everyone was in order, higher ranks in front and lower in the back

I howled signifying it was time for a run. The wolves behind me howled in joy as we all took off running. Mates were having fun under the moon light. The goddess had blessed us indeed

We stopped at a lake, the moon was reflecting over it and it was simply beautiful. I watched as little pups ran into the water, their paw prints were quite small compared to the adults

Everyone was playing and having fun, soon Ross came to my side with a sigh. I was heavily panting and gave him a look

'Do you think I'm ever going to find love?' He asked with concern, his head was down as he whimpered

I have him a sad look before licking him

'Of course you will, you deserve a mate, and I'm sure she'll be so lucky to have you as a mate'
'That's the thing, about my mate being a...' he paused when he noticed my eyes fog over

'Piper, meet me in my office, now'
'What's wrong?' I asked with concern
'We may have just declared a full on war against the Red Knight pack'
'Oh shit' I said, growling under my breath 'Be there soon' I said before cutting the link

I informed Ross on what was happening

'Should we head back?' He asked
'No let everyone have their fun, I'll just bring a warrior with me for extra protection' I told him, he nodded before running off

I noticed Michael chilling by the lake, playing with the sand in between his paws

I jogged up to him and smiled, he noticed me and quickly got up wagging his tail

'Yes alpha?' He asked in a teasing manner. I rolled my eyes and chuckled
'Now you don't have to do this, but I would appreciate it if you would escort me back to the pack house' I said, he smiled and nodded

We walked back to the house, I explained what was going on to him

'So we basically declared war on the Red Knights just for taking their daughter because she's Ace's mate?' He asked
'Sadly, it was completely unintentional though. But to be honest it was going to happen at some point'
'Yeah, but it makes us look like the bad guys' he mumbled
'Yeah I know! Technically she was trespassing though...' I said to him, making a mental note to inform our allies of the sudden war

Michael nodded in agreement, he paused to scratch himself before stretching his back out, his muscles all tightened and I purred

He quickly looked up at me with dark eyes, I backed up slightly as he came closer to me. My back pressed against a tree as he starred at me

He tilted his head. I smelt his arousal in the air and I'm not gonna lie when I said there wasn't a bit of want. I knew it was wrong though

'We can't, not here, not now. Plus you aren't my mate' I mumbled into the link. He looked hurt, stepping away from me
'I could be though, my birthday is in another week' he said, the desperation in his voice was obvious
'We'll see then' I told him before jogging off him trailing behind me

We arrived at the pack to find Ace sitting in the front steps, it seemed she was crying.

I quickly shifted back, not minding my nudity, I ran to her and hugged her.

"It'll be okay" I assured her "there's a reason you two are mates, trust me it'll all work out. We will get through this and win the war" I said giving her a smile. She smiled back, standing up and looking behind me with a worried face
"What's wrong Zac?" She asked with concern
"There's some people at the boarder who would like to speak with you two..." he trailed off
