Chapter 21

Pipers pov:

I was in the meeting room with Alec and Ross discussing the upcoming war

"Alpha, 30 of our warriors and 30 of Diego's warriors are at River's clans borders just for precautions" Alec informed me
"Good. Ross ask the other packs and clans to send at least 15 as well, they need as much protection as they can get" I said, the clan was a strong one, but they needed it especially with their clan leader gone.
"Alpha, should I make arrangements to call the Red Knights beta?" Ross asked me, I nodded. He went to get up but I grabbed his hand
"Call them in here. I wanna be here for this"

Ross grabbed the pack phone and entered their phone number. We didn't know if they were going to pick up or not. Soon after a few rings a male voice came on

"This is beta Stephan of the  Red Knights. Who am I speaking to?"
"This is beta Ross of the Lunar River pack" he paused when he heard a snicker
"I shouldn't be wasting my time talking to you" he said with a cocky tone. I growled silently
"Trust me, we don't want this either but it's for the best. We wanted to know if we could have a meeting. The alphas betas and gammas all in one room. We want this to work out...to not go to war." I heard a laugh in the background
"Oh how weak you sound. Are you really that afraid of us?" He said in a mocking tone
"Us? Afraid of you? You guys are a joke. Any sane leader would want to avoid war at all costs after all you're losing lives! Your own pack members will die! People you love. Are you willing to risk that?"
"For our werewolf future it's worth it. We won't let females go to power, never." He paused "I need to speak with my alpha to see if he even has any interest with this so called meeting"

A couple minutes later a stronger voice was heard on the phone, more rough and cocky.

"If we're having this meeting, I want it to be on my territory. I want my daughter to come along with her...mate. I'd like the other Luna to join" Marcus, the alpha requested. I growled when he said Luna...I'm an alpha of this pack little mutt

I reached my hand out for the phone

"We can arrange that. No fighting involved. Absolutely none." I insisted. I was very anti violence unless it was necessary. Plus I wasn't the strongest fighter out there

"What will even be discussed at this meeting? It seems pointless" Marcus said, sounding annoyed
"If there's any chance we can avoid war it's worth a shot to talk" I paused "Just, we agree to the terms. Do you?"
"Yes, does tomorrow work?" He questioned

I looked over at Alec who nodded

"3:30 pm works" he noted, I nodded at his words
"May we arrive at 3:30?" I asked him

I heard muffled voices before he spoke

"Fine, be there on-time."
"Of course, don't pull anything sneaky, we made a deal. You go back on your word and it's a full on war." I threatened
"You'll just have to come and find out" he said, sounding very snobby. I scoffed at his words "Remember whose land you'll be in."
"Til then" I said before hanging up

I looked over to Ross and Alec who nodded at me

I saluted them before exiting the room. It was 10 at night so I walked into my room and slid under the covers not minding the fact that I was still in my clothing. The lights were already off so I tried to close my eyes and sleep but every time I did all I saw was fire

I turned over and put the covers over my head

Tonight was going to be a long night

I woke up, 12 in the afternoon...jesus

I ran downstairs to find lunch on the table

Ross smiled at me in his mates arms. I saw Alec and Lilly hand in hand in the packs yard. They seemed happy so I was happy

I sat down at our island in the kitchen and ate an apple from the bowl. Another night of restless sleep. The nerves about today's meeting don't help

I heard creaking from the stairs and saw and smiling Ace and Maya

They smelt odd. I looked closer as Ace walked down the stairs to see a mark on her shoulder obviously from Maya. Her shoulder had Ace's mark

I was happy for them. Seeing my sister happy filled me with joy. Plus that means we're closer and closer to for filling the prophecy

"Damn A, I see you had fun" I said with a wink. She blushed before pulling Maya to her side at the table

She and her made small talk before I informed them of the meeting

Ace seemed nervous, but none the less we had to do this

"Today's gonna be fun..." she trailed off before kissing Maya's head. Maya pressed her body to her and I smiled.

Very cute

"We have to get ready in an hour. Zac is in charge while we're gone" I informed her and everyone else around

They nodded. I looked at Ace and saw the hugest smile on her face. She seemed so happy at this moment. She closer to mated with Maya. They finally bonded in one way. I'd be happy too if I was her

They got up and left the room. I sighed and threw my apple into the garbage

No mate. War at stake. Life couldn't be better

I held my face in my hands. I felt tears slip down my cheeks but I quickly wiped them away

Be a strong alpha not a weak alpha

I sniffled and held in a whimper. Is it too much to ask for a mate? I've been waiting for 2 years...and everyone around me is finding theirs

I sighed

Time to get ready for today
