Chapter 41 - Time Limit

Some days after camping with the orphanage children...

We receive a notice without any forewarning,

"Mina!"

"What is it, Tegemi?"

She burst into the living room, out of breath.

"You see..."

Catching her breath, she looks straight at me.

"The Orphanage..."

"The orphanage...closing day had been set."

"What?!"

I rush over to her.

"B-but, how?! i already manage to settle their account and donated all the money I had to support them for 10 years!" I blurted out.

"You what! So that's what you did?!"

"Oh..." realizing my slip up I slump down the sofa.

"Anyway, when is it?"

"In two months...but we need to talk about, what you did," she demanded.

"There must have been a mix up, I look into it..."

(Did Hinoma group pressured the bank? I trust Kenta pull through his promised, there must be something going on I need to get to the bottom of this.)

"M-Mina? You're not thinking on doing something crazy now..." she asked with a worried look on her eyes

Her expression grows stern.

"Mina...you already did so much, let me handle this."

"Huh? Oh, no you don't have to worry about it, I'll fix this."

And just then...

"Yuu?"

Yomiko suddenly appears in the living room.

As I look at her, I remember what everyone said.

(That's right...everybody was going to cheer Yomiko up...)

(I wonder if it went alright.)

(by the way she's looking at me I doubt they did...)

With a slightly thoughtful face she opens her mouth.

"Just now...I heard you."

"I heard after what you did, the orphanage is still doomed to be closing in two months..."

"Tegemi, I...will help look for a way to protect the children as well."

Her anxious expression melts, and she gives a smile.

Like that, she spins in place to face me...

"You're stupid aren't you?"

"Excuse me?"

"Putting all the responsibility on to yourself..."

"You're not the only one who came from the orphanage you know, Tegemi and Me also want to do something to protect the kids and the orphanage."

"And looking out for me, you were worried...that I was depressed about the orphanage, right?"

"I heard from everybody..."

Then she breaths deeply, and smile one more time.

"You really are an idiot."

(What?)

"Everybody cheered me up, so I'm alright now, we have to help the children, not to just be depressed forever!"

"Yuu..." said Tegemi with a smiled on her face.

(Well it's a good thing she's back to normal)

Yomiko and I look at each other and smile.

Like that, we turn face to Tegemi.

"I'm a pop star you know, if they need money I can do a fund raising concert to help the orphanage out."

Tegemi smiled and puts her hand on Yomiko's shoulders.

"Right, Mina you can leave this to Yuu and Mina, it's our turn to protect the children and their home."

"Yeah!"

They vow strongly to protect them no matter what.

And...
