Your mind raced and your legs pumped as you tried your absolute best to run from the catapulting fire and the crumbling ruins of the buildings of Asgard. Your eyes watered from the heat and they were wide as they took in the horrified faces of the Asgardians and their screams.
Your terror was caught in your throat as you rushed inside the main hall of the palace.
Your yellow Asgardian dress was ripped and (h/c) hair was wild and there was a deep gash on your collarbone that stung like nothin you had ever felt before.
You weren't of Asgardian blood - you had come up when Jane and Thor had hailed the Norse God who manned the gateway...you forgot his name - but all things behind you, you were freaking out. Big time.
You ran into someone, the gash hurting like hell, and after you felt the familiar surface of the floor under your arms near your face, you glanced up.
To see the younger prince of Asgard. Loki.
Your lips parted slightly at the sight of the trickster God, and he at you. You'd only heard snippets from Thor about his brother, and then pieced the other parts together from mythology.
But it appeared to be all true.
"Careful, _________," he smiled slowly. "The floor is not used to the confrontation of bodies." the younger prince commented. You were about to protest about how the gash had opened up and how hard it was to get off the floor with an open would, but you saw the trickster god extend you a hand.
"Thank you," you whispered, glad to be on two feet again. You put a hand over the deep gash in a weak attempt to hide it from him.
"But I do not understand one thing -," Loki started, but was cut off by an almighty explosion.
You were tossed forward into the air, your scream lost in the fear of burning alive from the flickering of flames the air smelt like. But you felt something - someone throw themselves on top of you and as you felt you face connect with the floor once more you felt an odd sensation.
Cold.
Turning, you realised three things in the same moment. One, you weren't hurt that much, just the gash and a possible concussion. Two, there was a man on top of you, in Loki's clothes. Three, he had a blue face and red eyes and was cold to touch.
You were about to scream when the man above you spoke.
"Shhh," he whispered. "There is no need to scare yourself any further."
You felt tears of shock and your eyes leaking from the heat and cold around you and you began to cry silently.
"Loki?" you whispered.
"You're confused," he nodded. "From earlier, you remember how you didn't understand what a frost giant was?" he alluded.
You nodded, wincing. You'd hurt your head, defiantly.
"That's what I am." He smiled. "Blue and tall and cold and red eyed -,"
"It's not all who you are!" you whispered loudly. "You're a good man, Loki. We all see differently, because we all have different eyes, and to some, you are abdominal, but remember," you paused, lip trembling. "You're a good man."
You looked into the red eyes of Loki's Jotun form and let a smile take way into your face like a bird freed from a cage. Uncomfortably, you shifted your right hand from underneath rubble and put its almost burned surface to his face to cradle it.
"You're not afraid," he whispered.
"Should I be?" you breathed.
"I am the monster mothers warn their children about," he warned.
You smiled. "Really?" you closed your eyes, feeling some of the shock fade away. "Ow," you sucked in a breath, "I can't feel my legs -,"
Loki's skin faded back to a pale shade and he rose from atop you. "And you seem to be leaking, from the inside out." he, standing, picked you up.
"Thanks," you smiled. Your friend Jane would never settle for someone carrying her.
Loki's face smiled upon you in the way which didn't look like a war snarl. "I'd better take you to a physician." He glanced up, and saw someone. You followed his line of gaze and found Thor, Jane and a warrior woman with dark hair. "I have to go, ________, but I'll be back, I promise."
You nodded, feeling hazy. "You're not what the newspapers say," you whispered as you felt Loki lay you on a surface with dozens of people around you to perform the medical checks. "You're -,"
You felt a pair of lips on yours and it shocked you into silence and it was then you only realised a vital piece of information.
He and you and you and he - loved each other.
"I'll be back, _______, I promise."
