A/N - I heavily rely on a lot of the dialogue from Civil War in this chapter. So DISCLAIMER: most of this dialogue is the property of MARVEL and not me.

Dad and I land simultaneously in front of the old HYDRA base, and memories of my time with the organization come rushing back. No, I never stayed in this exact facility but they are all the same. In each and every one of their buildings, someone lost who they truly are to their evil plots.

Looking down towards the ground, I see two sets of footprints leading inside. They hadn't been completely covered by the snow yet, giving me an important tell.

"Dad, these are still fresh. We shouldn't be too late." I say to Dad who only nods in response.

We both slowly walk into the compound, my hands guarded by their usual purple glow in anticipation. I constantly turn left and right, my old habits kicking in. Dad finds an elevator we can use and quickly waves me over. I wait impatiently as the old creaks and groans of the elevator bring us closer to find James and Steve.

A pair of closed doors appears as soon as we both step out of the elevator. I lift my hands in front of me, ready to tear it open when Dad hold his hand up.

"I got it, Bitsy. Save your strength." he says and I nod in agreement.

Dad slowly pries open the doors to reveal two very defensive super soldiers. I drop my hands by my sides, the purple spheres that were around them soon fading away. Dad and I walk towards them slowly, Dad's helmet disappearing into the back of his suit while mine disappears into their earbuds.

"You seem a little defensive." Dad comments.

"It's been a long day." Steve says while walking defensively towards us.

"At ease, soldier. I'm not coming after you." Dad tells Barnes.

"Then why are you here?" Steve questions.

"Because we found out the truth. Your story isn't crazy and we thought you were gonna need all the help you could get. Despite what you did beforehand." I reply with a sharp glare pointed towards Steve.

"Plus Ross doesn't know we're here and I would like to keep it that way." Dad adds. "Otherwise I gotta arrest both Erin and myself and that's not the best father-daughter bonding trip."

"That sounds like a lot of paperwork." Steve jokes while visibly relaxing. "It's good to see you both."

"Me too, Cap." Dad answers but I choose to remain silent.

I look up and see James still armed in a defensive position, not knowing what to do next. Leaving Dad's side and walking past Steve, I walk closer to him.

"James, it's okay. We aren't here to hurt you." I say while slowly laying my hand on the tip of his gun.

Barnes soon lowers the weapon and drops it to his side, making me smile briefly. Dropping the gun, he wraps his strong arms around me and holds me close in an embrace. I return the gesture and wrap my arms around his neck.

"Nice to be on the same side again, doll." Barnes whispers in my ear.

"Likewise, Barnes." I say while pulling away. "Likewise."

_______________

All four of us quietly make our way through the old HYDRA base, every creak and groan from the walls make the adrenaline run through my veins even faster. We eventually make our way to where the assassins were frozen and all of us were in defence mode.

"I've got heat signatures." Dad comments.

"How many?" Steve and I reply in unison.

"Uhh, one." Dad says.
