CAMERON BLACK
I caught the woman who fell through my front door easily.
"Oh my God. What happened?" I exclaimed pulling her in the front door.
"I'm Kaitlyn Stone. Jonathan said you could help me." She breathed before losing consciousness.
"What the hell happened to you?" I muttered taking in the blood covered shirt she wore.
I lifted her up into my arms and carried her into our dining room laying her on the table. She groaned as I untied the towel around her shoulder revealing a gunshot wound.
I thought about calling Dina but if Kaitlyn Stone knew Jonathan and I didn't recognize her then she's probably the woman he cheated on Dina with so I called Gunter.
"Cameron, it's one in the morning." He answered.
"A woman just fell through the front door of the archive with a gunshot wound in her shoulder. I need help." I told him.
"Is it a through and through?" He asked.
Kaitlyn hissed as I lifted her shoulder revealing a second wound.
"Yes it is."
"Try and get all of the fabric away from the wound, keep her warm and make sure she's not still bleeding. I'll be there in five minutes." He hung up on me.
I found a pair of scissors and cut her shirt up the center. She visibly winced as I cut through the shoulder of her shirt. I lifted her up to get the blood stained shirt off. I grabbed one of the towels off the counter behind me and laid her on it.
She moaned in pain.
"Kaitlyn, you're okay." I whispered.
I ran and got a blanket off Jonathan's bed to cover her in which seemed to calm her.her breathing was shallow and her pulse weak.
Gunter walked in with what looked like a medical bag.
"Who is she?" He asked looking down at her.
"Kaitlyn Stone. She said Jonathan sent her."
"Is she the one he was with last year?"
"I think so. That's why I didn't call Dina."
"It's not her fault. Jonathan said he didn't tell her about Dina." He said as he splashed alcohol on her wound.
She screamed and shot up to sitting.
"Cameron. Come here and try to calm her down.
"Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn. You're safe. Gunter needs to stitch up your wounds. Do you hear me?" I asked gently holding her forearms.
She looked at me not really seeing me but nodded.
When Gunter she flinched and laid her forehead on my shoulder as she forced herself not to scream again. The pain and blood loss was still taking it's toll on her.
"I don't have anything to numb the area with." Gunter told her.
"Just do it. I can handle it." She sighed.
She tried to move out of my arms but I held onto her.
"If Jonathan sent you here then we'll protect you. Just relax as much as you can." I whispered.
"Jonathan..." She said his name.
"It's my fault. It's all my fault." She whimpered as Gunter started stitching the wound on the back of her shoulder.
"She was shot in the back. This is the entrance wound." Gunter told me.
"Agent Kaitlyn Stone?" I asked her and she nodded into my shoulder.
"Can you tell me who that guy was that arrested Jonathan?"
"Drake Blair. My cover was working under him at the feild office in Maine." She sighed.
"Don't make her talk so much." Gunter instructed.
"Lay her down so I can take care of the exit wound."
She was still conscious when I laid her down.
"We're going to take care of you, okay?" I assured her.
She nodded slowly.
"I'm so cold." She muttered.
"You've lost a lot of blood." Gunter told her.
"What's your blood type?"
"AB+" She muttered.
"Universal recipient. Cameron, get into the small refrigerator and get a liter of blood. You and Jonathan are A+. I need to get an IV started or she'll go into shock."
She lost conciousness again as he effortlessly slid a needle into her left arm and attached the IV tube so her blood supply could replenish before going back to the wound in her shoulder.
"She's going to be fine. Once this bag is empty give her one more liter of blood, remember that you'll need to take the IV out after that. Cover the needle with a small wad of gauze and wrap it in medical tape. Let her rest. Call Jonathan at the prison in the morning and make sure he's alright." Gunter instructed after he moved Kaitlyn into Jonathan's bed.
"I have to clean up. You keep an eye on her. If she starts moving too much call me. It's important that she doesn't rip the stitches."
"Should I put her in one of his button up shirts?" I asked looking at how vulnerable she looked laying in his bed without a shirt on.
"It might not be a bad idea after she gets all the blood. We don't want to disrupt the IV." He said.
"If Jonathan trusts her enough to send her here... If he cares about her enough to send her here for help..."
"She is going to be fine, Cameron." He assured me again.
I sat down in Jonathan's desk chair and watched her sleep as peacefully as one could after being shot in the shoulder and doused with alcohol twice.
Occasionally she tossed her head from side to side as if she were having a nightmare but otherwise stayed almost deadly still.
"How is she doing?" Gunter asked walking in wiping the last of her blood off his hands.
"She almost doesn't move at all. More than once I've gotten up to make sure she's still breathing."
"She's a professional. She's had gunshot wounds before. You can't even see the scars unless you know what you're looking for."
"A professional what?" I asked.
"Not sure, but her body knows how to handle it. I'll get Jonathan's shirt on her before I leave. She just needs rest now. I'll come back tomorrow afternoon to check on the stitches."
Carefully he dressed her and left us alone in the archive. It was still early but it was late enough that I could call the prison.
"Attica Correctional Facility. How may I direct your call?" A female voice answered.
"Cameron Black for Jonathan Black."
"I'm sorry Mr. Black but your brother isn't housed here anymore. He was transferred late last night."
"What do you mean transferred? To where?" I asked taken aback.
"I don't have that information. You'll have to contact the arresting agent. Drake Blair."
