This is pure headcanon.
I cannot deny it nor accept it.

Russia never had really friends....
He once got in contact with a Russian Demon, called Winter....
He made a deal with him, to have a friend...
Winter will take over Russia's body whenever, whereever...
Russia noticed when he got older than he made it just worse when he made that deal.
When his heart pops out, Russia is tortured by Winter.
When Russia seems Insane, hurts somebody (for example the Baltics...)....
It's not his fault. He is like he acts...
Everything bad, did Winter...
Russia hates himself for the deal...
He wants that Winter goes away...
But once, when you made a deal...
You will never ever be free from it again.
Nobody knows about Winter...
So Russia gets all the fault and it's destroying him....
