the two of you eventually stir awake. awake enough to force yourselves out of bed.

"coffee?" sam asks as he pulls his shirt over his head. he's already at the door. you nod.

"yeah, uh, yes please." he smiles. "what?" you ask. he's still grinning, not yet ready to leave.

"nothing, just... i love you." you roll your eyes, but a smile shines through.

"i love you too." he mockingly blows you a kiss, and heads to the kitchen. you start to feel a little sick- plotting behind his back like this. but it doesn't matter. what's done is done, and your clock is ticking. you let out a sigh, and lean back onto the headboard, tapping your thighs lightly with your fingertips. you haven't been counting the days until he comes- now you wish you had. in normal deals, you know you're allotted ten years. but something for the winchesters? you're given weeks- and even that is a polite formality. most demons would turn you down, or take you immediately. you're lucky you got one sympathetic enough. you didn't even need to beg for time. you anticipated having to. time was important. important to say goodbye to sam, to dean, to castiel... you even thought of making a trip back home. you missed everyone, but that wasn't your life anymore. hell, even the winchesters weren't your life anymore. for the rest of what you have, it has to be dedicated to preparing them for you leaving. last night was a selfish fluke. you had been pulling away from sam in attempts to ensure mourning to minimize, but now he was feeling closer to you than ever. but you know the end of your plan, when-

"here you go!" sam trots into the room, interrupting your thoughts. you smile, taking the mug in your hand.

"thank you."

"of course." he plants a kiss on your forehead, and you force a smile. you want to melt in his heat, to stop time and stay in this moment. you're happy. you're both happy. but that can't last forever. he leans in for another kiss, but he jolts up as dean barges in.

"dean. knock." he says sternly.

"dammit, sammy, knocking is the least of our problems right now." sam's eyebrows press together in confusion.

"what do you mean?" sam's voice is full of confusion, but there seems to be an edge of hurt. like he knows what's going to come next.

"you'll never believe what i just found."
