all similarities to other stories are probably coincidental.

the routine continued on for the next few weeks, and she was noticing an improvement in her play already. she was really happy, and very grateful for yeonjun's help.
however, she was now focusing on aiming the ball exactly when yeonjun wanted it to be, and it was proving difficult.
"i want it to bounce here, like this!" he demonstrated, moving his arms wildly.
"i'm trying!" she shouted back, out of breath.
"try harder!" he pushed, folding his arms as he did so.
mumbling curses under her breath she knew he was too far to hear, she took aim again. she focused on the 'x' that yeonjun had marked out on the court in chalk. once she was sure, she swung her racket, no longer bothering to follow the ball with her eyes anymore.
"and x marks the spot." he gave a low whistle before smiling as the ball bounced on the 'x' and rolled away.
"i did it!" she exclaimed, "did you see that? i hit the 'x', i found the treasure!"
he simply smiled in response, but his eyes shone with genuine pride. minyoung was beside herself at this point, and she made her way to yeonjun, who was standing at the other end of the net.
as she approached, he raised his hands up expecting a high-five. she threw her arms around him instead. the force of it and the unexpectedness of it caused him to stumble, and he grabbed her waist to steady her in case she fell on top of him.
"oops," she let him go, "sorry about that, i was just too excited. it won't happen again, i promise."
he did not meet her eyes, instead opting to turn and head for the benches instead. minyoung smirked a little, observing the pink in his cheeks before he had turned away. she followed behind him, reaching around him to grab her bottle.
she was really thirsty, but to her dismay, the bottle was almost empty. the amount left definitely wouldn't be able to quench her thirst and she turned to leave for the water coolers. she stopped in her tracks when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
if yeonjun had tapped her shoulder, he made no indication that he had done it. he was staring off into the distance but his arm was outstretched towards her, his own bottle in hand. she made no attempt to take it.
he turned around and made eye contact before gesturing to the bottle.
"erm, it's okay, i'll just go refill mine. you can have your own water."
a flicker of emotion showed on his face before he threw his head back and laughed.
"i meant to refill mine while you were at it, but sure, you can have some of my water."
she flushed in embarrassment, praying that a hole would appear and swallow her whole. she was saved from having to respond by a familiar voice.
"has our yeonjun been behaving himself?" hueningkai cooed mockingly.
"what are you guys doing here?" minyoung stared at them in surprise.
"we're here to make sure you weren't getting yelled at," he replied, "you see, yeonjun said that he has never yelled, but that was the worst lie we've ever heard, so here we are!"
"well, your yeonjun has been playing nice, so i'm sure your worries were unfounded." yeonjun replied lazily.
beomgyu shared a glance with yeonjun, who was staring back with a puzzled expression. the two seemed to be having a conversation only they could understand, with lots of nose scrunching and brow furrowing involved.
they seemed to have reached a consensus, because beomgyu spoke up.
"were you going to fill up the bottles? why don't you get one of us to help you, two bottles could get pretty heavy." he pretended to look around and his gaze landed on soobin.
"soobin! you seem strong, why don't you go with her? we'll wait right here." without waiting for a response, beomgyu plucked the two bottles out of minyoung's hands and shoved them into soobin's.
as they walked to the water coolers, both soobin and minyoung shared a light-hearted conversation. soobin was easy to talk to, and he was finishing up a story about yeonjun.
"-he swore never to touch anything blueberry scented ever again." he chuckled as they put the bottles under the tap and let the water run.
"i swear, what would i not give to see that picture?" she kept laughing as she imagined it, turning her attention away from the water.
the water was still running, and collecting into a small puddle on the floor. the two were still oblivious as she pushed for more details, hoping to use it as leverage against yeonjun.
"while you two were laughing away," yeonjun's voice floated towards them, "the water bill kept running."
"what are you- oh no!" minyoung looked down in dismay, and saw that the water had already collected into a rather large puddle.
"i thought you were at the courts with the rest of them?" soobin addressed him.
"i... left for a short walk and ended up here." yeonjun said hesistantly, his hands behind his back.
"i'll... go get the mop." soobin left swiftly.
once he left, yeonjun reached over and grabbed her arm, gently pulling away from the water. she thanked him, and they stood in silence waiting for soobin to return.
"look," yeonjun spoke up, "i've been meaning to apologise."
she was confused, a reaction she found happened whenever she was with him, and raised her eyebrow in question.
"for, y'know, leaving you to walk home alone even though you were injured." he was unable to meet her eyes, shifting his feet uncomfortably.
"oh," she wasn't sure how to react, "well, i still came out alright, didn't i? don't worry too much about it."
she stepped towards him and attempted to pat his arm gingerly, but stepped in the water instead, which had been steadily flowing towards where they were standing. she slipped, and unable to find her balance, soon felt herself falling over backwards. she let out a small yelp, closing her eyes to brace for impact.
it never came.
