Yes, this is not their first encounter, what kind of daughter would not let her mother see her grandchild at least once in their life? After Cangse Sanren had Wei Ying, she had always wanted to bring her to see her own mother, telling her that she has a child of her own. After Wei Ying turned 2, she begged her husband to go visit Yiling Mountain to see her mother, as a family, to let her see Wei Ying and Wei Changze.

16 years ago, Wei Ying just turned 2

There was always a rule, if the disciple of Baoshan Sanren had ever left the mountains, they may never return. But the rule does not apply to family. It's her rule, she gets to decide.

"Mom!" Cangse ran towards her mom, opening her arms ready to embrace the woman most important in her life.

"Ah, CangCang, how can you visit your mother after so long?" Baoshan accepted the bear hug, missing the feeling of her daughter always attached to her leg just like when she was younger.

In the middle of their embrace, a man carrying a child followed behind, smiling the brightest they can. The child was hiding his face in his father's chest, scared to meet this scary-looking lady.

"Mom.....I got married......and I had a child." Cangse slowly looked up to face her mother, expecting an angry glare, only to see a gentle smile returning back.

After what seemed like a whole century, Baoshan walks closer to her new son-in-law,

"Hello, welcome to the family....."

Wei Changze could've sworn that it looked like he saw Baoshan given him a glare, but nonetheless, he smiles back at her and puts Wei Ying down on his feet.

"Greetings Mother-in-law, I am Wei Changze, I am grateful for the care you have done for Cangse." Changze bows down, trying to show his utmost respect.

"Mmm, I have raised my daughter with all the knowledge that I know, I trust her choices and she has chosen you. Don't worry, I'm not mad." Although she spoke such generous words, the tone of the message shows that she was still not satisfied.

"Mom..... Please don't...." Cangse looks over to her mother as she picked Wei Ying up into her arms.

"CangCang, I must know if he can do it even if he is committed." Baoshan walks over to the kitchen room, after what seemed like half a minute, she came back with a plate, covered by a bowl.

When Cangse saw what her mother brought out, she went close to her husband and rubbed his arm, showing sympathy. Changze looks back at her with the most confused and concerned face ever.

"This is a dish that I made every single one of my disciples eat, if you can eat it, then I will properly accept you as my son-in-law." Baoshan gives him a gentle smile, even after giving him such an evil task.

"honey, you don't have to do it, I already love you, and I know you love me, you don't need to prove it." Cangse cradles Wei Ying closer to her chest, Wei Ying already having fallen asleep because well, nap time!

"I want to, let me do this." Changze stares back at his loving wife, ready to face the challenge his mother-in-law had given him.

Slowly taking off the cover of the dish, a reddish small pepper-like food placed in the center of the plate. Looking at the pepper, Changze began to become even more worried.

He's eaten a lot of spicy dishes in his past, but nothing like this has ever made him so worried.

Slowly bringing it up to his face, he looks over once more to his wife and child, silently praying for his life.

A few moments later, Changze ate the entire pepper, nothing more than the familiar taste of regular spicy pepper. He looks back over to his mother-in-law, smiling back at her like it was the easiest challenge he's ever had.

Cangse gives her husband a smile, knowing that soon that smile will be replaced from happiness to pain.

Just as expected, Changze begins sweating uncontrollably, from his forehead to his feet.

Baoshan looks at her son-in-law, expecting these results. A smile finally revealing on her face, Baoshan couldn't help but begin laughing.

"Mom! You dare to prank your own son-in-law like that!" Cangse finally announced, laughing along to her mom.

"You were in on it! Don't give all the blame on me!" Baoshan retorts back, clutching her stomach from the excessive laughing.

Changze stares at the pair of mother and daughter, laughing at his burning pain.

After what seemed like forever, the pain had finally subdued. He can finally feel his tongue again and began seeking explanations.

"Honey, what...is......going...on???" Mumbling as best as he can, he wants to know.

Finishing up the last few gasps of laughs, Cangse finally explains.

"There is no spicy pepper test for her disciples, my mother is just a huge prankster that most people do not know about. She is an amazing cultivator, but she also knows how to have fun." Cangse couldn't help but reminisce her youth when her mother would occasionally play pranks on her and second disciple brother.

Baoshan looks over to Changze and pats his shoulder,

"You have been proven worthy of being my daughter's significant other, I am proud to have you as my son-in-law."

Having heard the approval of his mother-in-law, he was overwhelmed and hugged her when she did not expect it.

Whoever thought that the significant and highly respected Baoshan Sanren was known to be such a prankster.

Hearing the loud noises caused by the adults, Wei Ying woke up from his nap.

"Huh?....Mommy?? Daddy??" Rubbing his drowsy eyes, he was throwing his other arm up searching for his parents.

Changze runs over to pick up his son, planting sweet small kisses to his temples.

Feeling like getting tickled, Wei Ying giggles to the touch of his loving father.

"Wei Ying, say hello to grandma!" Changze walks closer to Baoshan and began dropped him into her arms

Suddenly dropped into unfamiliar arms, Wei Ying looks up to a face showing nothing but love and care. Knowing that he feels safe in her arms, Wei Ying smiles the biggest smile he can ever give.

"Popo! (Grandma! From the mother's side)" The sound of a 2-year old boy, her own grandson, calling her a name that she's always wanted.

"Mhm, guai" (Mhm Good boy) Smiling back at him, he can see the potential of his future, strong and caring, a warrior who will protect the weak and stay kind-hearted.

After the day had passed, Baoshan watches as her daughter and her family began walking home, Wei Ying waving over to grandma, hoping to see her again, not knowing that this was the last time seeing her daughter ever again.
