“Goddamn I feel amazing/Damn I’m in the matrix/My mind is living on cloud 9 and this 9 is never on vacation/Start up that Maserati and VROOM VROOM I’m racin’” Backstreet Freestyle blasted through my headphones as I ran on the treadmill. I had been jogging for almost forty-five minutes and my muscles were screaming. Normally I hated running and I would avoid the treadmill at all costs when I went to the gym, but I needed something to take my mind off of Karlie. We hadn’t been able to talk in a week and I was really starting to miss her. She had just texted me before I got to the gym, and even though it was just a simple text, finally hearing from her made my day. However, it also put her on my mind more than she had been in the last few days, and I figured torturing myself with a run would help. I missed her so much, and she was still going to be gone for another four days. The worst part of it all was going to bed alone every night. I know it seemed crazy how we’d really only been together for barely two weeks, but I loved Karlie, and it was the most intense love I’d ever felt for anyone, so I didn’t mind that we had moved a little fast. Just then the timer on my treadmill beeped, signaling the sixty-minute mark mark and it brought me out of my deep thoughts. I figured I had done enough exercising for one day and headed for the showers.

By the time I had left it the gym it was nearly 6 o’clock. That’s 11 p.m. London-time. I thought to myself. Since it was so late where Karlie was, I figured I would try to call her to say goodnight. It rang for about a minute until it went to voice mail and I got to hear her angelic voice:
“Hi, you’ve reached Karlie Kloss. I’m really sorry that I couldn’t make it to the phone right now, but I promise to call you back, bye!”
“Hey Karls, its Taylor. I just wanted to say goodnight to you, and that I miss you and I love you. I can’t wait until you come home! T-minus four days!” I exclaimed into the voicemail. I hung up my phone and tucked it back into my teal jacket. Feeling a little bit upset that I didn’t get to talk to Karlie, I hung my head and put my earphones back in as I walked home. It was about a five-minute walk, which I was grateful for because it was freezing outside tonight. I played ‘Come Back… Be Here’ on my phone and just got lost in it. I know it was cheesy to have my own song on my phone, but it made me think of Karlie and for that I was happy. By the time the song had finished, the elevator doors opened and I was on my floor. Then I tucked my headphones in my pocket and fumbled for my keys in my chestnut brown Michael Kors purse. After I finally found them (and concluded that I needed to organize my purse) I unlocked the door and pushed it open. Something was different, and I noticed it as soon as I walked through the door. All of my lights were on, which I had turned off when I left for the gym. I also heard a sizzling sound coming from the kitchen around the corner. What the fuck is going on? I thought. I put my purse down on the couch and turned the corner to enter the kitchen.
