[Flashback]

No matter how much you try to save someone, they can't be saved unless they want to save themselves.

"Yibo." Xiao Zhan waved his hands the moment he spotted Wang Yibo in the class. It was lunch time and the two had been sharing meals together. Xiao Zhan would share the home cooked meals of Lu Shijie with Yibo who had the cold lunch of canteen with him.

"Zhan-ge." Even though they were of same age, Wang Yibo had to admit defeat because of his tiny frame. Good thing he was still growing.

"Guess what's in my bento today?" Xiao Zhan placed the box in front of him, ready to reveal the big surprise.

"Pork beet lotus soup." Wang Yibo didn't even have to look inside to guess.

"How would you know?" Xiao Zhan asked surprised.

"You bring that every Friday." He simply answered.

Xiao Zhan laughed at his answer, he himself didn't notice that.

"Well, that means its your lucky day, since I helped Shijie cook this batch." Xiao Zhan was clearly flaunting, showing his dominance. But that wasn't going to intimidate Wang Yibo.

"That means its going to be extra spicy, I think I'm good with my Melon bun." Wang Yibo nibbled the bun in the most adorable way possible, shooting arrows straight through Xiao Zhan's heart. If he didn't know any better, he wanted to adopt the little star.

The two got together in every little break they got in between each class. Rumors were still there but this time, Xiao Zhan had the courage to not mind them. He had his little star to keep him sane.

They said it was Xiao Zhan who was broken but to him, Wang Yibo was like a fallen star, who wanted nothing but to shine bright.

Xiao Zhan did his best to protect Wang Yibo, he could protect him from others but how could he protect him from his own heart?

It was one of those rare days when Song Jiyang was allowed to meet Xiao Zhan. He waited for him at his school gate. The moment Xiao Zhan spotted his uncle, he shouted running towards him,

"Uncle!!!"

Song Jiyang picked him up, flew him in the air happily twirling to the side. This was indeed happiness. Staying close to your family and being able to embrace them. The world was too cruel to set them apart.

"Are you ready to meet mom?" Song Jiyang asked, carefully placing him back on his feet.

"I am! I am!" Xiao Zhan vigorously nodded. He had to act mature and tough so much that everyone forgot that he was still a child himself.

"Ah! Uncle can I bring my friend over?" Xiao Zhan grabbed the little star by his arm and pushed him in front of his uncle.

"Of course, what is your nam-" Song Jiyang froze, stunned seeing the boy there out of all the places. What was he doing there? Why was he with Xiao Zhan?

"Wang Yibo."

Despite million questions in his mind and thousand needles in his heart, Song Jiyang managed to smile, for sake of Xiao Zhan.

"Let's go little Wang." Song Jiyang held Xiao Zhan with one hand and Wang Yibo with other. He swore that the steps towards their apartment were heavier than usual.

Liu Tingyu Waited for her grandchild to come. And when she spotted the little child dancing on his way, she couldn't help but chuckle. She missed him dearly.

"Grandma!" The child shouted the moment he laid his eyes on her. If he could, he would have started shouting her name through the school gate.

Xiao Zhan freed his hand from his uncle's grasp and ran straight towards his grandma. He hugged her tightly and received it the same way. How much Xiao Zhan missed this? How much he needed this.

Xiao Zhan loved his adopted family but no amount of love could replace the family of blood.

"Grandma, Grandma, meet my new friend!" Xiao Zhan pulled Wang Yibo and made him stand in front of his Grandma. Liu Tingyu recognized the boy, how couldn't she, after all he was one of the reasons, she lost her daughter.

"My Child what's your name?" Liu Tingyue asked while urging Wang Yibo to sit on her lap. Despite feeling foreign to everything Wang Yibo agreed.

"Wang Yibo." He meekly replied.

"Would you like to eat Dango?" Liu Tingyu asked the two boys sitting on her lap.

"I do, I do!" Xiao Zhan excitedly said and he was confused why wasn't Wang Yibo excited the same way. Don't everyone love food?

"I will help you cook it!" Xiao Zhan merrily got up from her grandma's lap and held her finger to lead her into the kitchen. Whenever food was involved Xiao Zhan would forget everyone around them. He left little Yibo alone in the porch.

"Come one, let's get inside." Song Jiyang opened the door for Wang Yibo to enter.

Jiangs lived in Jiujiang while Xiao Zhan's home town was Chongqing. Song Jiyang and Liu Tingyu traveled every weekend, just to meet with Xiao Zhan. It was the only time they were allowed to meet and even that was because they found no hard evidence against Song Jiyang but for the safety of child, the court kept them away. After all being the heir of a huge company only made him vulnerable.

"Don't mind, A-Zhan. He prioritizes food over everything." Song Jiyang welcomed Wang Yibo to sit on the sofa. Song Jiyang and Liu Tinguye had rented an apartment in Jiujiang which they only used on weekends, in order to meet Xiao Zhan. Song Jiyang went inside the kitchen and brought a glass of fresh juice for his little guest. Besides he looked like he could use one, he felt out of place.

"You are not from Jiujiang, what brings you to this city?" Song Jiyang was aware that Wang Yibo belonged to Luoyang but what he didn't know was how that boy came to Jiujiang and in the same school as Xiao Zhan. It was more than just a coincidence.

Wang Yibo was a little surprised at first but answered honestly,

"I wanted to meet Zhang-ge."

Answer was innocent but the reaction was dangerous. Song Jiyang couldn't help but worry, he can't let anything happen to his nephew.

"Why is that?"

"To apologize."

"Apologize?"

Wang Yibo nodded. Only he knows how much effort his brother Hai Kuan had put just to find Xiao Zhan. Learning that Xiao Zhan was the heir of Xiao Corps, they searched every where in Chongqing but they didn't know he was adopted by Jiangs.

"It was because of me that Zhang-ge ....lost his papa."

Was it his fault? No! Wang yibo had no control over the storm, he himself was a child. How could he blame himself for something natural?

"Papa.." Song Jiyang got up from his seat, he knew better than to blame a child.

But he himself was merely a teenager who not only lost his sister but was accused of her murder!

"He didn't just lose his papa..." He muttered silently, trying his best to calm his own self but where was his justification? Why was he held charge for everything? He couldn't even mourn for his family without people giving him looks.

"What about my sister? She was hit by a car, your uncle's car!"

She could have been saved, she would have been with them and Xiao Zhan didn't have to go away. Why the world was so unfair?

How Ironic, The world wasn't accusing the one who caused it but the one who wanted to prevent it, yet both them were blaming themselves for the things they couldn't avert.
