I get completely mortified and call Doctor Charles, hoping he can help Dhalia. " Daniel. " Docot Charles answeres. " Hi, its detective Upton. Can i ask a favour please? " I still shaken. " yes of course, is everything okay? " He asks caringly. " Umm not really. Dhalias I'm tears, she just told Jay that her dad used to beat her like my dad hurt me today. " I explain feeling sick to my stomach. " Okay, well I can speak to her if you want but I'm going to need a little more detail if you have any. Itll be easier to work with. " Charles says. " Yes sure. It's her biological dad, he raped me, on an undercover job. That's how I ended up pregnant. He went to jail but when I got out apparently he went to live with Dhalia and her foster mom. I'm not sure how much Dhalia knows and the thoughts of what he could have done to her makes me sick. " I explain chocking up. " Oh I'm so sorry first of all. I think the best idea would to bring he in tomorrow and we will have another chat. Is that okay with you? " he asks " Yes of course, Thankyou! " I say haning up.
" Hey, sweetie. " Dahlia looks up red eyed. " remember that nice doctor you spoke to today? Well tomorrow your going to talk to him again. " I say biting my lip. " okay. " Dahlia says rubbing her eyes. Jay looks at me giving me the ' you okay look '. I shake my head but dont make a thing of it infront of Dhalia. " How about you help me make a very special tea for you and mommy. " Jay smiles trying to cheer Dhalia up. " Okay! " Dhalia smiles, all of a sudden back to her chirpy self. " Thankyou! " I mouth to Jay, following them to the kitchen are and sitting on a bar stool.
Jay's POV
" So, you ready for this challenge! " I ask in a deep voice, pulling a weird face. " Yes! " Dhalia laughs. " Alright first off we need the pasta. Can you get the pasta out that cupboard? " I ask pointing to the cupboard. Dhalia runs over so excited which is unbelievably cute. " Got it! " I says lifting it over her head. " Next we need the mushrooms, basil, courgette and peppers. " I say, Dhalias already running around trying to find them. Once shes found them she hands them over to me. " Thankyou. Now your next job is to go sit next to mommy and give her a big, gentle hug. " I order smiling at hailey in ore of how amazing and strong she is.
