Unexpected

part 31

Jay, Hailey and Dhalia were heading into the hospital to see Doctor Charles. Dhalia has threw a tantrum about half an hour before they all had to leave. Hailey was really nervous, she doesn't know how much Dhalia was told or what she has gone through.

" Dhalia Upton " Doctor Charles announced coming out his officer. Dhalia, Jay and Hailey all jump up and walk into his office. " Hi Dhalia, remember me from the other day? " Doctor Charles asks. Dhalia nodds trying to hide behind haileys chair. " Dhalia, come round. " Jay says grabbing Dhalia by the arm. " Alright so, mommy said you told Jay that your dad used to hurt you. " Doctor Charles stated. " Ye, he used to hit me over the head, pin me a...and " Dhalia didnt finish the sentence before she burst into tears. Hailey watched her helpless daughter cry hysterically into Jay's arms. It took all her will power to keep herself together.

Jay, Hailey and Dhalia were back at Haileys apartment. Hailey went to get some ibuprofen for her rib pain and Jay went to put a sleeping Dhalia into her bed. " I failed her Jay! " Hailey choaks sitting down. " What? " Jay asks turning sitting down next to Hailey " I failed her Jay. I promised myself that if I had kids I would protect them from the abuse I went through as a child. I practically signed Dhalia up for it when I put her into the system. " Hailey was in tears, gripping her waist to try and ease the pain in her ribs made worse by the crying. Jay just sat there completely shocked at the thought that hailey could think she failed her daughter. " Hailey, you didnt fail her one little bit. What happened wasnt your fault okay. You took Dhalia in when she needed her mum the most! " Jay said putting his arm around haileys shoulder.

They spent the next two hours cuddled up on the sofa in silence. " Mommy, I'm hungry. " a half asleep Dhalia asked coming into the living room. " Okay, sweetie. " Jay got up and went to make lunch for the three of them. Haileys phone started buzzing ontop of the counter next to Jay " Hail, its Voight! " Hailey ignores Jay and carries on cuddling Dhalia. Jay answers it knowing Hank wouldn't ring for no reason. " Hailey it's your dad, we caught him. " Voight answers getting straight to the point. " Hank its Jay not hailey. " Jay says interrupting Voight in mid flow. " Wheres Hailey then? " Voight asks confused to why Jay is answering haileys phone. " With Dhalia on the sofa, long story. " Jay says not wanting to talk about it infront of Hailey and Dhalia. " Well tell Hailey what I told you, hes going to statevill and not getting out for a good while, you can guarantee that. " Voight says " Okay, thanks " Jay says haning up.

Jay walked back into the living are with a sandwich for each of them, making sure Dhalia had no crusts. " They got him. " Jay says breaking the silence. " I dont care Jay, I've got you and Dhalia. That's all I care about. " Hailey says tearing a piece of lettuce up. " Love you Hails. " Jay says non-chalantley, hailey looks up and smiles at him, completely in love with the guy infront of him. " I'm going to play. " Dhalia announces interrupting the moment. " Okay princess. " Jay smiles, darting his eyes from hailey to Dhalia.
