Up in the Sky

Saku-chan's Birthday

Like many times before, Minjung wakes up to the buzzing and screeching of her phone. Though, this time it was way before her designated time. "Hello? For goodness sakes it's 2am."

"Hello to you to Minjung. Uh... we have some news." A voice told. Minjung stated quiet allowing the other to speak. "Minhyun's funeral is today. Mom wants you there so I'm sending you a call later today. Make a speech."

"I'd..... rather not...."

"Why not? You were the closest one to him."

"Because it's not a wound I want to open up again. I already hate the fact that I wasn't with him when he died. I couldn't do anything. And I'd rather send him off in person but no this whole pandemic is causing some issues. If only I could have the power to eradicate this disease..... or maybe see him one last time...."

"Minjung... it's been a month."

"I'm allowed to grief Unnie."

       "I know. But still try to come up with a speech okay?" Her sister told after hanging up. Minjung sighed still sitting up in her bed. She put on a large black poofy jacket and stepped into the dead of night. Minjung walked towards her own home. She climbed the tree and sat on a sturdy branch. The girl looked up to the sky.

      "Why does everything bad happen to me? Why can't you just be here and put your arms around me? You always did that. Always said the right things. ...I'll be honest, I've been avoiding trying to think about you. And.... and I wish I could've seen you before you went. I could really use your words of wisdom right now. I'm in love with two people. And it looks like I've already made my decision but I can't help but hesitate. What if... I never find the one for me?"

     A cold breeze blew threw the tree. It was gentle. Minjung closed her eyes  not to get any dirt in her eyes. When she reopened them, everything had turned a blue tint. The moon and the starts glimmered a beautiful sky blue.

      "Minjung. Get down from the tree." A voice called. Minjung quickly darted her head towards the voice. Her mouth dropped. She walked to the center of the tree before lowering herself. Her eyes scanned the person. "Hello my baby sister."

      "Is this a dream?"

      "Well it is. And it isn't. You're still awake."

      "So a hallucination."

      "Uh...close enough."

       "Look I know that it's gonna be hard without me. But I'm always gonna be in your heart. And about your decision. Is it the grief you feel for me that's stopping you from making a decision? Both Sakura and Jaemin love you. You could choose either one."

      "Yeah but I choose one and hurt the other."

      "They'll understand. But didn't Minjoo already help you make a decision?"

       "Yeah, but I think about all the times that Sakura and Jaemin helped me but my mind draws a blank when I try to remember how I helped them...."

       "Okay let's start with Sakura.... we all know how she was your oshimen. And quite honestly... you were obsessed with her. She was your inspiration to be a singer. Why was that? How did she inspire you?"

       "When I saw someone around the same age as me chasing her dreams, I wanted to be a singer as well. To be able to showcase my voice. When I watched her on variety shows, she was funny. She always made me smile. And I started to learned Japanese so one day I could speak with her if I ever met her. And she was human. She talked about her short comings and wanted to grow. I never imagined being in the same team as her. And now I am... and she's still the 13 year old girl who couldn't smell a fart bomb hehe. She's matured and she still naturally brings a smile to my face. She doesn't have to do anything. There is just a big bright aurora around her that draws me in like a moth to a flame. She has helped me through many hard times and knew when I wasn't okay. It makes me feel like I'm not a good fan because I haven't done nearly as much for her as she has for me, but I still love her. And I will try to be there for her more like the way she has for me."
