Not alone anymore

Chapter 22

The next morning Regina and I washed up, brushed our teeth and headed downstairs to get some breakfast. We found Zelena sitting at the the kitchen island working on some sketches and drinking a cup of coffee. Regina speaks first to her sister. "Good morning sis. Your up early. Did you sleep well?"   "Morning you two and yes I actually slept very well. As soon as I hit the bed I was out. Thank you by the way for getting such comfortable beds, sheets and pillows".  She says with a chuckle. Regina and I both smile. "Well your welcome sis. Have you had breakfast yet? I could make us all something".  "Actually dear sister I was hoping we could go to Granny's for breakfast. I've been craving her strawberry waffles since the last time I was here. Do you both mind if we go there for breakfast instead?"   "I don't mind. Emma how about you?"   "Yeah I'm cool with it. Just give us some time to get dressed and then we can head over there".  "Ok fine but make it quick, I've been up for hours". Regina and I both laugh and head upstairs to get dressed.  We meet Zelena in the kitchen then I drive all of us over to Granny's for breakfast. It was after the breakfast rush and it was Wednesday which is usually slow. We had no problem getting a table. Ruby came over to take our order. Zelena gave hers first. She got the waffles with some eggs and bacon. Regina and I both ended up ordering a broccoli and cheese omelette, home fries and bacon. As soon as we all started eating Zelena looked across the table and started coughing. We thought she was about to start choking. I asked in a panic. "Z you ok?"  She nodded so I quickly got up to get her a glass of water and brought it to her. When she finally started to calm down she took a sip of water and said. "Bloody hell. What are you both trying to do to me?"  Regina and I looked at each other and shrugged. Regina asked. "What are you talking about?"  "Really?  You two are so dense sometimes. No wonder you wound up together. I'm talking about that rock on your finger Regina. Why haven't you told me yet?"  "Z I showed you the ring last night and told you I was gonna do it".   "But you didn't say when. You couldn't tell me when we all met in the kitchen this morning. Damn you both, trying to kill me like this. Ok Regina let me see this".   She grabs Regina's hand and pulls it to her. "It's absolutely beautiful on you Regina. Looks like Emma has some taste with jewelry". Zelena smiles and gives me a wink. Regina and I both smile and once everything finally settled down we got to eat our breakfast. I loved my food and believe that Regina and Zelena also did because when we were finished all of our plates were empty. We sat there and talked for a few minutes as we waited for Ruby to bring our tab. We paid and tipped her and also told her that we got engaged. She was so excited for us that she had to run and get Granny, who was also excited for us. They both eventually had to get back to work so Zelena, Regina and I went back to the house. We all have a glass of lemon iced tea and go out and sit on the back patio. "So have you two talked about when you want to have the wedding?"   I look at her and then I say.  "No actually we haven't Zelena".  "Well I'm here for 2 weeks, I'd love it if you did it before I left".  She has the biggest smile on her face and Regina says to her sister. "Zelena I think we may want to do some more planning for our wedding. You can't really put a wedding together in 2 weeks".   "Sure you can. You just need a place, the clothes and rings. Come on you two. Get on this. Regina your not getting any younger".   "Shut up Zelena. Emma and I will get married when we are ready and not any sooner".  Just then Zelena's phone started ringing. "Damn it's one of my designers I need to take this. I'll be back in a few minutes".  She answers her phone and goes back inside.  Regina takes hold of my hand and we smile at each other again. "You know babe, I wouldn't mind a quick wedding. I love you and if you feel like you can get ready while your sister is here I'm ok with getting married soon".   "Seriously Emma, you'd really want to do this soon?"   It's more of an excited question than a put off.  "Sure babe. I love you with everything I am. I asked you to marry me because I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I'd love to do it now if your ready for that".   "Yes my love, I'd actually love that very much".   "So did we just decide that we are getting married very soon?"   "I believe we did my love". We smile and kiss each other. We are still kissing a few minutes later when Zelena comes back onto to the back patio.  "Oh for goodness sake will you two please calm down. Save something for the wedding night".  She sits down as Regina and I separate with a laugh.  "So Z how fast can you put a wedding together?"  I asked. She just about jumped out of her chair. "Shit are you both serious?"   We nod and Zelena  stands up and comes over to hug us. "I can put this together in no time. First Regina we don't even need to go dress shopping. I have designed a wedding dress that hasn't even been shown yet. I'll show you my sketches and if you like it all I have to do is take some measurements and call my assistant and it'll be be here in a few days. What do you think?"   "Oh my god.  Yes please. I would love to wear an original Zelena Mills designer wedding dress. Maybe I'll even make it in a fashion magazine. Thank you Zelena. I absolutely love this".  "Great. Let's go inside and I'll start taking your  measurements".  Regina nods and gives me a kiss and goes into the house with her sister. I grab my phone and call Ruby. It goes to her voicemail so I leave a message saying that Regina and I want to get married soon and that I need her help. I also ask her to call me as soon as she's available because there is something I want to ask her. I end the message and put my phone back on the table. I wait for the sisters to come back but the only Zelena returns.  "What happened to Regina?"   "She's making a few calls".  I nod and ask how things went.  "Just fine. I called my assistant to put a rush on the dress and it's being made as we speak. It should be here within 3 or 4 days".  "Wow that's really great. I'm sure Regina is so happy that you are doing this for her. She really loves you".  "And I really love her. So have you decided what you want to wear Emma?"   "I don't know Z. I don't want to disappoint Regina but I spent a good chunk of my savings on the ring and I don't know if I could afford something nice enough for the type of wedding she probably wants. I'm mean shit she's wearing one of your original designer gowns that isn't even available yet. How the hell can I even come close to that. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe we should wait a bit longer".  And of course that was the exact time Regina decides to come back onto the patio. When she speaks her voice is soft as she asks. "Emma you want to wait to get married?"   I hate the look in her eyes. I can tell she's so disappointed.  "It was just a thought babe. I'm just worried that if we actually set a date and the wonderful dress that Zelena designed for you doesn't make it in time. I would hate for that to happen".   She gives me a kiss. "I love you sweetheart. Thank you for thinking ahead like that, but nothing is carved in stone yet. You still need something to wear, we need a place and find a catering company that can pull this together in such a short notice. We can make this work my love".  We kiss again and she puts she head on my shoulder as she grabs hold of my hand and gives it a squeeze. I kiss the top of her head then look at Zelena and she gives me a sad look. A few minutes later my phones rings and it's Ruby. I excuse myself and go into the house. I press ignore so it goes to voicemail and text Zelena. "Please don't say anything to Regina. Please".  She texted back. "I promise I won't".  I hope I can trust her. I listen to the voicemail and call Ruby back and she answered on the first ring. She was so excited that Regina and I will be getting married soon, but all I feel is guilty because eventually I'm gonna have postpone everything. Ruby said she will be my side no matter what and all I had to do was give her a call. I ended our call and went into Regina's office and had a big shot of her apple cider. I refilled my glass and sat on the couch. I got lost in my head so I don't know now long I was sitting there and I definitely didn't hear Regina come into her office.  "Emma dear are you ok?"  I jump because I wasn't expecting her. "Oh hey babe. Sorry I was just taking a few minutes to think".  She sits down next to me and starts to speak.  "Emma I'm starting to get the feeling that your rethinking this quick wedding idea. Please tell me what's going on".   I stand up and start pacing around the office.  "Emma your starting to scare me. Do you not want to get married anymore?"   I stop in my tracks and look at her. I quickly go sit next to her and put my arms around her. "No baby I swear I want to spend the rest of my life with you and I can't wait to call you my wife. The only thing is that I'm not sure I can be ready in time. I need to find something to wear and so does Ruby. What if she can't find anything either?  Babe maybe we should give this a few more months just to get everything worked out".  She's quiet for a few moments then says.  "I think your right Emma. It's silly to actually think we could put together a wedding in less than 2 weeks. I'm glad you took the time to think about everything. I love you sweetheart". She leans in and gives me a kiss. I completely feel like shit. I really want to marry her right now but I can't embarrass her by wearing jeans to our wedding. She definitely deserves more than that. "I'm really sorry Regina".  "Don't be sorry my love. We will find the right time to do this".  We hold each other but I can't help the tears that fall from my eyes.  Regina pulls back a bit and looks at me.  "My love why are you crying?"   "I just feel bad that I started all this and now we have to put it off. I do love you Regina. Please don't ever forget that".  We kiss and sit back and hold each other. A few minutes later Regina spoke again. "Zelena asked me to make my lasagna for dinner, how do you  feel about having that tonight dear?"   "I love your lasagna and I would definitely love some for dinner. Thanks babe".  She gives me a kiss and says. "I should go get started on that so it'll be ready in time".  We kiss again and she leaves the office.
